I think it would be interesting to see a Mirror Universe movie. I know it is yet another alternate reality, but it would still make for some good space battles.
I think it would be cool for a sequel, but please, shouldn't the show move forward instead of continuing to bring back the old charactors. Spock was ok, but come on.. Shatner? He has been an ass lately and would hurt the movie more than help it. Remember to boldy go were no one has gone before, not to go back again and again. And quite frankly, Mirror, Mirror has been killed enough. Live long and prosper,
Here is a thought: How about a plot that messes around with the fabric of the universe and causes several timelines to exist simultenously, causing different version of the crew, past and present AND normal / mirror universe to meet and have to work together to fix things? Possible cameos?
I think the biggest thing I'd like to see from XII is for them to slow it down a little. I realize that Star Trek is the product of modern filmmaking, and I also understand they had to fit a ton of material into this story and running time, but I think the door is open for twelve to move a slightly more leisurely pace than this film did, and I'd like to see that happen.
They've established everything they set out to establish. Now, they can build on it while still providing that fast pace and action that people are likely going to demand.

I'm pretty sure
the reason JJ et al decided to have a Spock-Uhura romance is because their character arc for Spock is "how he learns to trust his feelings and embrace his hew-mon side." Without that, what's the point of tossing those characters in bed together? Just to annoy purists? Nah gotta be more to it than that. So I predict a rocky road for our lovebirds but love of course must triumph in the end, because otherwise, Spock's character arc does really go anywhere, does it?
One MU movie could be a blast, sure. MU is good in small doses, but two hours would be okay.
And I know this wouldn't happen except on TV, but I'd really love to see an MU Spock story - what happens after Kirk & the others go home?

Personally I want to see Cardassians in the next film but not as the villains, just as an aggressive expansionist power that has taken advantage of the Federation's recent... difficulties in order to establish their status as one of the two dominant AQ powers. Perhaps both the CU and the UFP are involved in some form of diplomacy with the Enterprise and Kirk taking a leading role.

I had posted elsewhere that something involving the MU could be very interesting. My thought was to expand on the Enterprise version from their pair of episodes. Perhaps, the Defiant from the prime universe, somehow returns to this reality and gets everyone thinking. It would also be interesting to get the Tholians or Gorn involved. I just don't think we've got to see enough of either species. Also, what about the Breen. Are they even a known species during TOS timeline?

What the next film should have:
* Space
* The final frontier
* The voyages of the starship Enterprise
* An event from its five-year mission
* Exploration of strange new worlds
* Seeking out of new life
* Seeking out of new civilizations
* Boldly going where no one has gone before.
Therefore: no all-out war. Let George Lucas keep that one.
