Star Trek XI: The Future begins...?

The Academic

Commander
Red Shirt
So, after the initially alleged fan-made posters turned out to be the real thing and shared one prominent feature in all languages, one question remains (at least for me)...
Is 'The Future begins' really only a tagline or part of the title after all? In case it is actually merely a tagline, will it eventually become part of the title just to differentiate this movie from other Star Trek movies or the Star Trek franchise in general? Is this really important or am I just making a big tool out of myself?

P.S.
On second thought, don't answer the last question...

It seems pretty obvious that it's a tagline considering we already know the title.

I doubt it will ever be incorporated into the title, regardless of sequels.

My own question: why is the title of this movie such a hard concept for so many people?

No, no. The title is "Star Trek: The Future." It begins in theaters this May.

Don't you watch NBC?

As a matter of fact, I don't, not in the place where I live... but I know what you are talking about.

It's just a tagline.
This has been talked about and officially cleared a few weeks ago.

The title was and remains just "Star Trek"

Got you loud and clear...
Still, it would make sense, both intra- (a completely new and exciting timeline opens up where anything is possible) and extra-universal (a new and bright future for the entire Star Trek franchise begins where, well, anything is possible) - and it would really make a whole lot of people very angry (particularly the self-respecting fans... YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE).

The real question, especially given the backstory being created in the comics, is: is this tagline meant to have a meaning to the story beyond just the obvious one (the coming together of the crew)?

I have a feeling "The Future Begins" will stick, whether we like it or not. Especially for marketing purposes.

When the 2nd and 3rd movies come out - they will each have a tagline, ( I dunno - The Five Year Mission, The First Mission, Tribbial Pursuit or something...) and when you line up the DVD's on the shelf - "The Future Begins" will be there to see on the spine. I don't think we'll call it STAR TREK in years to come. We don't even call Star Trek "Star Trek" any more. Its TOS.

We've got TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, TMP, TWOK, TFF, TVH, TFF, TUC, GEN, FC, INS & NEM.

Now, TFB... :D

It's starting to get really eerie how much JJ's Trek is imitating the very first Trek movie!
