Where do you stand on Prodigy and Lower Decks

Didn't watch Prodigy so no opinion.
I liked Lower Decks. They were kind of loser-ish, but endearing.

I have to admit I am familiar with soap operas. My mother loved General Hospital and Days of Our Lives and sometimes I watched it with her when I went to see her.

So of course I recognized the actress from Days of Our Lives playing the ship counselor.

Nice post credit scenes.

I didn't expect Peck playing Sybok but a soap opera needs an evil twin.

Anyway I liked it.

Whoever gave guidance that specific about how to calibrate the dream thing -- and what to leave in and out of it -- had to have watched the episode. At least enough of it to have an overall opinion about whether the puppet stuff was actually going to work. Season 3 feedback will not have covered that scenario.

Oh I agree with you. I meant that I doubt Paramount are invested in individual episode stuff like that unless they have a reason to be concerned. They're not inherently invested in canon and I'm sure they're only thinking of money and ratings. I'm assuming that the reaction to season 3 prompted them to be concerned enough to get invested in particular plot lines like the puppets and the relationships.

The VOY screenshot isn't much of a gotcha considering that scene is literally in the Major Grin video and implied to be stupid as well. But @fireproof78 explicitly said he would never 'give a click' to Major Grin, hence he wouldn't have known that.

Why? Doesn't really make much sense. The judge robes were shorthand for the Q. So they could have them but not mention them to preserve the precious canon.

From my perspective? Fuck that. Trust in your audience's ability to pick up what you're putting down. That lack of trust bothers me today and it bothered me in 1988 when they changed the Romulans because they were afraid people would confuse them with Vulcans.

TBH, it doesn't even make sense that Trelane is in the sound booth at all. We've never seen stuff from the POV of a Q before when humans aren't there - in part because Trek has been pretty explicit in the past that it's all just images for the frame of reference of mere mortals, and we can't perceive the continuum as it really is.

So my headcanon is just that all those scenes are just for the sake of the audience - that none of that is actually happening anywhere.

Just another case of how the showrunners don't take the show too seriously, so neither should we.

‘Strange’ is in the title. I’d rather have what SNW is offering vs. the stuffy offerings that were Discovery or Picard.

This. Just as the endless road in the desert and the Civil War setting were contrivances created by the Q so the Voyager crew could understand what was going on around them, the setting in this episode was so that we the audience could understand what was going on.
