Augmented Denobulans are a thing, even if a lot of that is mechanical implants to enhance natural physiology.

Vulcans are turned into horrible stereotypes rather than the stoic, wise and highly intelligent species that they are.

Vulcans have been "jerks" since TOS. And they've been treating Spock as inferior since TOS, too. It's an ongoing element of Spock's character. The episode does make the point that these "Vulcans" are not representative of all Vulcans.
This. "Amok Time" makes it clear a sense of elitism and racial purity is somewhat present in Vulcans.

ENT established that 22nd century Vulcans were raging hypocrites and often bigots, and DSC just took that to a different level with the, "yeah, we're all Federation brothers now but I still think I'm better than the rest of you" smugness.

Anson's acting was pretty bad here, which is surprising as he did a great job as faux Asimov in the holodeck episode. His stilted performance reminds me of the Stargate episode where Colonel O'Neil and T'ealc switched bodies. Richard Dean Anderson was pretty bad playing T'ealc, even with his long acting experience as McGyver, whereas Christopher Judge knocked it out of the park playing O'Neil.
