Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2x09 - "Subspace Rhapsody"

Okay, so I bit the bullet...I'm watching this episode right now.

What do I think about it? Well let's just say that it's everything I was afraid it would be, and leave it at that.

I did like ONE bit, though: Pike and Batel's song, and how La'an cuts it off before Pike could let any more secrets out.

Musical theater is what it is. I guess you either like it or you don't.

But again, I have nothing against musicals, as such. I did see COME FROM AWAY six times, after all. (He said for the forty-seventh time. ) I'm just not enjoying it HERE.

I'm sorry, I probably shouldn't have said anything at all. But I promise I'll watch this episode to the end. Perhaps gritting my teeth would be in order?

I would have liked it a lot more if we had some real Klingon opera!

Seriously. Klingon opera is a thing. So when they had the Klingons sing, THIS is what we get? How could they drop the ball like that?

I mean, if the Romulans were hit by this, what would they do? Grunge?

NONE of the humans sung Earth Opera. And that's really a thing. Like really really.

There is a Klingon Opera version of the scene. They felt the K-Pop take worked better.

Chapel's song was, IMHO, the weakest of the bunch, but Sam Kirk's antics in the background were hilarious.

And I still wish the computer had got a song of its own...

Subversion of expectations. Definitely worked for me!

Besides, we’ve already heard bits of Klingon opera several times on tng and ds9.

I would say that if Subspace Rhapsody doesn't suit you, you can stop watching, the way I have stopped watching some episodes. I find intolerance of different opinions than your own to be a deplorable behavior.

They did write an opera (and apparently recorded it? I'm not sure), but in the end they felt it was too predictable, so they wrote a K-Pop style song instead.

Maybe it will be in the Blu-Ray special features.
