One thing that struck, first from previewing some folks' reactions on here, and then by seeing it myself, is that the commitment all the performers and crew made to doing this for real made all the difference.

They were definitely committed. One of the articles posted earlier mentioned that the cast started rehearsals for this episode on weekends while working on other episodes during the week.

The songs didn't tell her to tell everyone else about the fellowship except Spock. Him not being the first one to know, that's not an issue. But not to tell him at all?
I'm certain she was going to tell him, but she was probably trying to figure out how to break it to him. Unfortunately, the muse interrupted her plans, and it all came out, and in a way she didn't want, considering her expression toward Spock at the end. That wasn't how she wanted to break the news to him.

"When you're a Dahar Master you're a Dahar Master ALL THE WAY..."

Maybe, maybe not. We'll never know.

And we've all said things in the heat of the moment and immediately show a facial expression of regret directly afterward. Doesn't excuse it.

I’m sure someone else has said some thing about this already, but after three end-to-end viewings of the episode I have to give mad props to Christina Chong for “Flying Blind”. She was truly phenomenal. How utterly heartbreaking for La’An. I just wanted to give her a huge hug after watching her big solo number.

I am simply astounded (by musical theater standards and pure emotional impact) how brilliant this episode was. Definitely a franchise Top Ten episode. Magnificent!

I went into Subspace Rhapsody thinking "We don't need a Star Trek musical"

I love SNW to death, but man do I hate musicals. This didn't change my mind, but I do appreciate that this show is always willing to try something different, and whatever they're doing, they give 110%. Sometimes it pays off in a huge way, sometimes not so much.

I'm glad most of you enjoyed it though. I'll be waiting impatiently for next week. Season 2 has otherwise been phenomenal!

Did not do it for me. I like all the big swings they took this year, but this one did not connect. One musical every 55 years or so is about right.

My wife is a casual Trek fan and does not watch the current iterations (she's strictly TOS/TNG). However, she LOVES musicals so I sat her down to watch this last night. OMG she LOVED it. She about fell off the couch with the Klingon scene. Watching and hearing her reactions were almost as fun as watching the show itself.
