You know what else causes long term issues? Knowingly killing an entire species because you want to save the equipment that's killing them because it might set you back a little.
If some Alien tells you to give up Warp Drive, it's killing them by using Warp Drive, don't leave your Star System?

Are you going to comply?

If some Alien tells you to give up Replicators, it's killing them, will you give up Replicators?

Where do you draw the line?

If some Alien tells you that your existence is causing them to suffer, are you going to give up your life for them?

Where do you draw the line?

Destroying one piece of equipment to prevent loss of life is sufficient. Then you reevaluate, determine what harm was done and take steps to rectificy the situation.

This is one piece of equipment against several lives.
And what if they tell you to destroy ALL your equipment and never harvest fuel again?

Stay stuck on your planet.

What will you do?

Where do you draw the line?

I'm willing to find a reasonable solution here, but blowing up the facility wasn't necessary when you could've stopped it, released the beings, moved the facility and be operational in a few weeks / months.

But then the episode wouldn’t have ended with a dramatic explosion.

Is it wrong I don't even remember the exact details "Night Terrors"?
I rewatched it this afternoon after someone said this was Night Terrors part II.

Other than hallucinations, it wasn’t that similar. The TNG episode is much spookier, with the ship marooned and everyone except Data slowly losing their minds.

Oh, come on. No way no how was Uhura part of the Big Three of TOS. In the Kelvin Timeline, maybe, as she's a much more major character there. But she didn't even get an official first name until ST09.

(Apologies if you were being sarcastic here. If so, it didn't really come through.)

McCoy says in "Friday's Child" that he was only on Capella IV for a few months, so he most likely wouldn't be assigned there yet. You could certainly bring Bones onto the show for a guest spot and not violate anything that's previously been established.

Yeah. Kirk getting an commendation doesn't necessarily mean that what he did was common knowledge. We only know how Kirk's Kobayashi Maru test played out in the Kelvin Timeline, not in the Prime one. And if SNW ever chooses to hit on it, I'm sure they'll do something different than what ST09 did, because what would be the point otherwise?
No sarcasm. We now see that these three met much earlier than seemingly any others and eventually work together longer.

That's what negotiations are for. But, in the moment, the equipment can't be shut down.

I got nuthin',
Two eyes in the dark. One moon, circling…
No one’s getting REM sleep so they’re going mad while Deanna has one repeating nightmare that’s a message from aliens who need them to blow hydrogen into the energy-sucking rift to create an explosion that’ll blow everyone free. Surely you remember Crusher in the bay surrounded by bodies that all sit up under their sheets?

Nope. Though the image search I did showed it.

Because Anson has been busy with his new kid. Plus they're trying to flush out all of the characters.
Excuse me, I do not ask a question "why". I suggest my wish to see Pike playing more than a supporting role in the Pike's era show, as well as I want this for our precious Number One.
I doubt my wish means slavery for the actors and sacrifice of the new kid's needs. I just would not be happy if we'll get Kirk&girls adventures show instead of Pike's Enterprise show.
Also I'd want the crew to be, you know, the crew, not just a bunch of the randomly interacting characters. It was perfectly handled by SNW s1, but s2 looks more ego-centric.

When watching TOS, like the Tholian Web, I always thought those seat-belt style restraints for insane sickbay patients were ridiculously primitive looking. Now I realize even those were better than the apparent non-existent restraints in SNW! This is not the first time a dangerous patient has escaped M'Benga's sickbay! (It also happened in the series premiere)

we didn't even see the Farragut
We did see two ships of the same class as the Farragut in the shot of everyone evacuating the station. One of them was probably the Farragut.

Someone from the main cast should have been the focus
Uhura was the main focus of the episode.

And it was explained that she has hard time asking for help, which is why Kirk sorta forced himself into that role.
