I thought this one made more narrative sense than Four and a Half Vulcans in that Spock does have Vulcan and Human DNA and it's more plausible that his Vulcan DNA could be repressed partially but enough to effect the changes we see.

The more recent episode transformed humans with no Vulcan DNA so that they could pass an advanced cellular scan, seemingly able not only transform DNA but the blood in their veins, giving them instant logic (despite being a learned trait) and the ability to mind meld (despite not all Vulcans being telepathically adept and it being a learned technique). It just slapped a lot of Vulcan clichés onto characters who had been Vulcan for 30 seconds and failed even to acknowledge that as genetically altered beings, they would have had to leave Starfleet.
