T'Pril reminds me so much of Enterprise's vulcan's back in the day. 100 years later and there are still vulcans who are racist against humans.

Yeah, I'm surprised that there was so much "Bigotry" from T'Pril's mother.

Clearly Vulcans are not supposed to show emotions so openly. She didn't want Spock to be human-like, but her own husband is. (Note: Trellium-induced behavior is not typical, and pointing that out is not moving goalposts )

Am I the only one getting the vibe that the father is "Whooped" using a human term.

Amanda's dialogue seems to indicate that there are almost no humans on Vulcan, or presumably really very few. You'd think that she'd be old friends with M'Benga as well, not just Pelia.

I didn't see it that way. She was hurt by the fact that after everything they'd experienced he didn't trust her. We, the viewing audience may have seen his reluctance to share was likely more altruistic - not wanting to put an additional burden on her - but she saw a lack of trust. I also thought she looked suspicious of him and Chapel disappearing into the bathroom.

8/10 very fun episode but it could’ve been a few minutes shorter. It kind of dragged in parts.

I feel bad for T’Pring’s father. He seems a bit more laid back then your average Vulcan but then his wife gives him that disapproving look and he tamps that down. Poor guy is whipped. Just an odd couple.

The aliens were interesting. Nice use of the volume for their realm.

Well... Yeah!

A quibble. Spock implies himan emotions are stronger than Vulcan ones, the implication has always been Vulcan emotions are far more intense than human ones hence their need to suppress them. But here Spock says human emotions are stronger.

I think the best interpretation is that Vulcan emotions really are stronger, but Vulcans have far better suppression capabilities. As a human Spock couldn't suppress the emotions anymore.

Spock and Chapel in the corridor post her interview call. Damn. The chemistry between these two. It's so strong I want canon to be violated so they can beg together.

We've got a straight-up tragedy here. We all know what the optimal solution is, but it's just not going to be possible.

We know Chapel somehow ends up with Korby so this is going to get messy. And that's not even getting into Leila Kalomi.

Random thoughts:

I think that T'Pril loves that casually energized aspect of Sevet, but she also lives under Vulcan society's prejudices, so she reacts much more sternly to him (and T'Pring) to mitigate it. Sarek's predilection towards emotional people made he and Sevet natural friends, and T'Pril has warring ideas of her fondness for emotionality and her own fear of being ostracized, and so tries to stamp it out where she can. Sevet just goes along with it all because he loves her and he's a bit oblivious.

I could see the betrothal of Spock and T'Pring as being attempts by Sarek and T'Pril as an attempt to prove their bona fides with a society that looked down upon them.

I've always wondered why Amanda Grayson, a modern 23rd century woman, would agree to such an outmoded idea of an arranged marriage for her son. I'm thinking she got spooked (by Sarek, probably) about Spock going insane and dying during an unbonded pon farr, so she reluctantly acceded. She probably also figured that since Sarek was divorced (?), if Spock were unhappy, he could ultimately end the marriage.

So the question is what happens that causes Chapel to dump Spock for Roger Korby?

The question is what made Christine so sappy she made a nine year old cringe.
