So where the **** is Delta Vega? Is it "40 Eridani A 1"?

"First contact" on Trek rarely makes for good stories unless it's about the characters. The movie FC was about Picard's issues, Data's temptation and Cochrane's self-worth. "The Corbomite Maneuver" was about the quickly-promoted lieutenant's struggles.

what about the "First Contact" TNG episode? Was that a good story? :)

Another 7. Not a bad episode. Some chuckles, a couple laughs.

I find Vulcan cultural stuff as boring as Klingon cultural stuff.

The inter-dimensional aliens were cute/annoying.

I felt sorry for T'Pring's father. At least Pike had his back.

George Kirk. :lol Get rid of that moustache, man.

Spock and Chapel can only end in tears.

Sam will keep that mustache until the day he dies.

I agree with 100% of your thoughts here. Articulated exactly my feelings about the episode in a way I don't think I could have expressed. Well-said, all of it.
Right. Will mark that down as two for the "feminist comedy" angle.

Some things were amusing and the general concept was interesting, but all considered I didn’t find this episode as the last few ones. I loved T’Pring’s mother, though, everyone was kinda acting like teenagers tough.

"Burned" as distinct from what? It was better than most Trek, so...

Maybe since it's been so long since we've had live-action episodic Trek people still don't get that the show does a little bit of everything? Each episode is different and not really "building" to anything. So a fun, romcom, one isn't really a waste as they weren't automatically doing anything else with it anyway.

And it was a great character study. Also I like the Vulcans, so I like it that we get to see more of their culture. I guess "world building" is still the term, even if it's multiple worlds in the Federation. I like seeing how "real" the cultures are in Trek. They all have histories and traditions.

10 tense space battle standoffs a year would be too much, not to mention a budget drain. Even the new shows need to save money and do what is essentially a bottle episode every now and then. It was all on the ship, the shuttle, and the big virtual-reality room for the alien encounter.

Also it's creepy that some people here can't stand even one episode being dominated by female characters. 1 out the 15 or so that have aired so far. 1 out of the hundreds of Trek episodes that have aired since the 60w. That's it, just 1 and it's already 1 too many for you? Tell me you hate women without telling me.
Actually don't bother telling me cause I've blocked them. LOL

I'm still blown away people give a fuck about such things. 90s Trek must have been very difficult until Enterprise showed up.

Sadly, the only thing that has changed is the right-wing jargon. Back in the day, reactionaries complained that TNG and DS9 were too "PC." Nowadays they say "woke" instead, but it's just the same tired song.

"But why did they HAVE to make Sisko black? Just to be PC?"

Because they're the loudest, and now have more platforms from which to shout and shake their fists at the march of time and human progress, it seems like there are more of them out there. But there aren't. Proportionally their numbers are shrinking. And these kids coming up? They're having none of this bullshit.
