Nerd.

Star Wars Imperial rank insignia are all over the place, and even the notoriously hardcore SW fanbase just shrugged their shoulders on thatOr we could just go all meta and acknowledge that these were pilot and early episodes of the show, and the showrunners didn't have it all figured out yet, and quit trying to shoehorn every little consistency into an in-world explanation.
And before anyone asks, yes, I've been around the board a while.![]()

I don't understand why the helm officers are wearing Ops colours here and on DSC either. Helm and Nav - later "Conn" - was Command branch on TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY...and, if memory serves, on ENT as well...?
No.And in the second TOS pilot episode Spock - the science officer - wore a Command color tunic.
Yes. I mentioned it twice in two pages of the same thread. BOW BEFORE MY HERCULEAN NERDDOM.
Just ask Lt. MastersEngineering is a science.
One them is Number One, so her tunic is correct. Other must be a Command officer doing their mandatory rotation at Nav/Ops.And even aboard the Enterprise during DSC season 2!

Speaking of uniform colour oddities: the casualty screen from the original Rigel VII mission shows two crewmembers in red, and one in blue. The person identified as "science specialist" was not the one in blue!![]()
The Odyssey is a fun read. It's very much an adventure story. But the Illiad and the Aeneid are boring AF.It’s quite good. I liked it better than the Iliad (and not because it’s shorter…well, not only). Both were required reading in my last year of high school. Along with the Roman knockoff, the Aeneid.
We read it in High School as part of a class called "Fantasy, Science Fiction and the Future". It was paired with 2001: A Space Odyssey. Also in the syllabus, the Hobbit and the Left Hand of Darkness. The Odyssey is a fun read. It's very much an adventure story. But the Illiad and the Aeneid are boring AF.
Better be blue or the canonistas will have a fit.So if/when (probably when) Sulu shows up will he be wearing gold or red? Or even blue??
Don't worry. It's Walter Sulu, the astrophysicist. Hikaru's cousin.Sulu just better not show up. Save someone for TOS, for crissake!

Record keeping requires top clearance.Funny you should mention that. One of the digital documents created for "Ad Astra Per Aspera" (not sure if it ever appeared on screen or not) indicated that Lieutenant Amin (the character on the left in that image, IIRC) was the records officer of the Enterprise. That is, the same job as Ben Finney in TOS, who wore a command division uniform.
Do you work for the show?![]()
