Yawn.Because pro trip is very current, very arrogant. Very American. It's very current, it's not old language.
If I get YouTube Influencer vibe then you've broken the immersion.
… and? By the 23rd century it will be old language. And as pointed out before, Trek has always used modern language.Because pro trip is very current, very arrogant. Very American. It's very current, it's not old language.

pro tip: when you think that a three decades old term is "very current", the next step is to yell about music being played to loud.Because pro trip is very current, very arrogant. Very American. It's very current, it's not old language.

Since he did it in TOS (Comadeered the Enterprise), how is it 'out of character' for him because he did it to assist a comrade 6 years earlier?I just finished it. Pretty disappointing.
I really hate the idea of Spock stealing the Enterprise back during the Pike era. Not only is it out of character for Spock, but it blunts all the impact of both "The Menagerie' and Star Trek III. (Doing the same thing but earlier is the laziest way to make a prequel.) Pike and Number One were both barely in it. And Carol Kane was sadly in "Goofy Carol Kane" mode that would've been more suited for an episode of Taxi or the second Addams Family movie. I wish she'd played it straighter.
M'Benga and Chapel's escape from the ship was cool though. I haven't seen that before.
Not what I wanted from a season premiere, especially when the season is only 10 episodes long. I'm giving it a 3 out of 10.
Let's hope the next episode is better...
What’s pro trip anyways?
A brief study showed it was a 90s idiom from the magazine "PRO Gamer."The phrase "pro tip" (not "trip") is an idiom, short for "professional tip," used as a prefix for a piece of advice the speaker is about to give the listener.
Example: "Pro tip: Always make sure you wash your hands after using the restroom."
I first became aware of the idiom in the 2010s, but I don't know when it emerged.
We've not seen the same depth of feeling for La'an that Spock had for Pike in "The Menagerie." Plus, was stealing the Enterprise the most logical course of action Spock could have taken? I think not.Since he did it in TOS (Comadeered the Enterprise), how is it 'out of character' for him because he did it to assist a comrade 6 years earlier?
Well, for Spock, he (now) only stole the ship twice. He wasn't involved in stealing it in ST:III TSFS. That was Kirk, McCoy, Chekov, Sulu and Scotty - none of which served under Pike. (And no, McCoy channeling Spock's Katra for one line <> Spock was involved in the plan made.)We've not seen the same depth of feeling for La'an that Spock had for Pike in "The Menagerie." But mostly it's just hacky to repeat a major plot point from two of the most famous Trek stories of all. If I ever see another regular defy orders to steal their Starship and just get off with a slap on the wrist, it'll be too soon.
Which is one time too many. It's dumb for the same reason ENT sending Archer to Rura Penthe was dumb. Because it's hack, repetitive, and it was already done much better elsewhere.Well, for Spock, he (now) only stole the ship twice.
And you think I didn't know this... Why, exactly? He wasn't involved in stealing it in ST:III TSFS. That was Kirk, McCoy, Chekov, Sulu and Scotty - none of which served under Pike. (And no, McCoy channeling Spock's Katra for one line <> Spock was involved in the plan made.)
