The Archer class looks soo cute docked next to it's bigger sibling ships.
I see Carol Kane's character and my first thought is automatically her role in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. It will take a little bit to get used to Kane on Star Trek.
Spock said the line. I'm so happy. My favorite line in the entire trailer. 
It was a nice start to the season. It didn't blow me away or anything, but it set up what is to come with the ending scene, and re-established the characters. Looks like next week will be Una and Pike's side of the story. I thought the stuff with M'Banga and Chapel on the ship was a little too long (And the flashing lights weren't helping, but we did get the trademark Goldsman upside flip cam for some reason) and maybe wanted a little more of La'An and Oriana. However, the space chase between the two federation ships was spectacular and they brought back the Apocolypse Rising Party Klingon Vibe with the Bloodwine. That entire scene ending with Spock's hangover was great.
I'm giving this episode a 7. It could be a 7.5, but it's the season opener and hopefully there are better episodes to come. This one was setting the bar.
The tribute to Nichelle was really nice.

A pretty good episode, strangely Pike-free.
I love Carol Kane already.
Makes me wonder If he took some time off to spend time with his wife and his newborn child.
Reactions, more or less in chronological order:
Peck is doing a great job with Spock's intonations so far. Very recognizable without sounding like he's outright aping Nimoy.
I do love it when Trek crews get to be utter chaos gremlins.
"If you're going to steal a starship, do it correctly." Yeah, there's a bit of small world syndrome going on with Pelia knowing Spock's mom, but I don't care, because she is a fucking delight. Why are Starfleet engineers always the best?
Really not a fan of this new thing with every captain having to have a catchphrase when they go to warp. You can't force a phrase to become iconic.
Digging the undercover outfits and the Klingon make-up. The lower brow ridges emphasize the alien look without going too far afield from the 90's era.
This whole cast really has such good chemistry. They're fun to watch, even when the circumstances are grim.
I miss Kyle. I really hope they bring the actor back for S3.
I'm meh on the convenient super-soldier serum, but I do need more of M'Benga and Chapel's Klingon war backstory NOW, please.
Ortegas is a lot of fun, but sooo intense. I do get the feeling she's going to run out of quips sooner or later and just snap.

I really hope this show picks up some nuance wrt to the Gorn.

I'm not sure how I feel about all the feelings going on. Our little Spocky is a mess.
The person who wouldn't take Una or Pike's calls means that she's an old acquaintance of both of theirs and/or she's related to Pike.
It's a long shot but might it be T'pol?
Or perhaps a very old Hoshi Sato?
I'm wishing on nothing here, but that would be sooo cool if it were either of them.
