I guess any anomalies can be chalked up to an alternate timeline that no longer happens.

That's a Helluva nice variant on the uniform.

Definitely shows lineage to the SNW uniforms, also looks a lot more comfortable than the OG Maroon

It just occurred to me that the Klingons and Romulans were allies in TOS, to the point that most Romulan ships in the Enterprise Incident were D7s given to them by the Klingons! If the Romulans are indeed trouncing the Federation and the Klingons would be siding with them, mutilated Fed savior Spock, and are ushering in a new era of evil (TM), why would the Klingons help Pike prevent all that? If anything the Boreth monks would proclaim this the New Age of Kahless.

I can't believe the assholes actually ruined the TWOK-TUC era uniform. A bunch of stupid patterned shit, it looked like trash. Can they just not fuck with one little thing ever? They think that they know better then the much more talented people that came before them, and it is the biggest element holding SNW back.

The episode overall was trash, a bad version of the excellent Tapestry, except the writers of this episode aren't worthy to lick mud off Ron Moore's shoes (he wrote Tapestry, fyi). I don't even want to talk any more about it. 4/10

Overall this season ended up being like most Trek 1st seasons, mixed. Its still probably the third best first season overall, after TOS Season 1 and Lower Decks Season 1 (LD S1 had a weak start, but a strong middle and ending which puts it high up for me), and when Strange New Worlds is good I absolutely love it. When its bad, its generally still better then DSC, even if I have a few recurring complaints. I'm excited for Season 2, and about half of this season's episodes are ones I know I'll be rewatching and continue enjoying (while never rewatching the Freaky Friday, Child Sacrifice or storybook episodes ever again, even if my life depended on it  ).

https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Korath

Korath was a Klingon scientist who, in an alternate 2404, created the chrono deflector, a time travel device. He was a member of the House of Korath.

In that year, Admiral Kathryn Janeway entered into negotiations with Korath to obtain the chrono deflector, as part of her plan to change history by returning the starship USS Voyager to the Alpha Quadrant sixteen years earlier than it had in that timeline.

In the novel, it is implied that Korath was the man whom the adult Alexander Rozhenko met in the Cambra system in an alternate timeline in the early 25th century and who offered him the chance to travel back in time to 2370, as was depicted in TNG: "Firstborn".

It's Korath again isn't it? Klingon lifespans leave room for him to be behind Pike's time travel too. :klingon:

On the Star Trek show where EVERY-SINGLE-FUCKING-THING looks different, you're upset they changed something?

Like, come on.

I hate to say it, but a part of me wants to see the full horrific future that Admiral Pike is from for a few episodes. The mass enslavement camps, the Romulan indoctrination, the Reman beatdowns of uprisings, the Romulan-allied Klingons letting loose with bat'leths and screams and horror and all that. Orbital bombardments of Andoria and Tellar. Romulans forcefully reunifying with Vulcan and mind melding screaming human victims like Ortegas into obedience. Laughing as they feed Stiles to the Gorn for egg implantation. Amanda breaking down at Spock's mutilated vegetative state before she's executed and Sarek forced to become the Praetor's consort. Sybok and the Romulans releasing "God" to flood entire continents, spread plagues, and strike down people with lightning while they pray for mercy. The New Romulan Empire. They should've shown a few episodes of that the way (spoilers for Picard Season 2)
Picard had a few episodes in the evil Confederation timeline before going back to fix it.

My guess, yeah. Shame we didn't get the Centurion in this version of the events, the greying, older Romulan officer who kept reminding the Commander of his duties to the Star Empire and the Praetor. We don't get many Romulans anymore with grey hair.
No I don't think it was Decius per se; I think it was the cousin of the old Centurion in the original BOT - yet somehow in this timeline that Centurion died in another campaign before this one.
^^^^
At least that's how it came across to me with the dialogue between the two Romulan characters.

I had a thought about that. The monks might be more irritated with Pike for cheating the "price" of taking a time-crystal than they are necessarily with the precise state of the galaxy that resulted. The deal was, he takes a crystal, he accepts the fate it shows him, and he defied that. Pretty dishonorable.
