Klingon Time Crystals = Kryptonite???
A fucking 11!!! (Although 10 is all I can choose on the poll) I would have given it a 12 had they shown Mr. Scott anfd not just had his voice via the intercom.
What a GREAT way to do a different and 21st century production take on the TOS S1 classic Balance Of Terror; and even throw in costuming nods to the TOS feature film era while their at it; and still keep everything in Prime continuity/canon.
I LOVED it front to back; and in the end, I love that they know have Pike accepting his fate for a GOOD reason, and he's just going to go with the flow and live his life to the fullest way he knows how until that day.
(And honestly if anything this episode shows the difference between Kirk and a Picard <--- And no that's not a typo because yes, Pike is actually more like a 23c Picard, and probably how Picard would have run a ship had he himself been a Captain in the 23rd century era.
LOVE that this episode shows that out and out diplomacy isn't always a good thing. Diplomacy needs to be tailored to the enemy you're negotiating with -- and that's one inherent flaw Starfleet has in that they often seem to have the idea that ALWAYS talking will solve any situation; but yeah sometimes 'talk' has to be backed up with hard resolves - and sometimes that resolve needs to be demonstrated.)
And I also LOVE they are in fact addressing the Una genetic engineering situation as well that Pike (and the audience have known since early in the Season).
This also sooooo sets up and puts a real coda on TOS S1 - The Menagerie I can picture Spock right 'now' (in 2259) setting things in motion with The Talosian Keeper to be sure everything is in place for when the time comes.
This is the way to write an EXCELLECT Star Trek series.
We better dawn well get to see 7 (or more) Seasons of Strange New Worlds - They NEED to announce the Season 3 renewal POST HASTE!(
)
I thought Riker was going to ram at STL and have the Warp Core be a giant explosive payload.
Thoughts:
Didn't Pike learn anything from the Klingon War? Had they fried the Rommo's and sent them an email, "Hey, don't fuck around with us my dudes" - war averted.
Since when is being genetically altered an imprisonable crime? Couldn't they just like fire her?
I think that Lower Decks has new episodes later this year.I did like the episode. The story utsdkf
We only have probably 10 months to wait possum. Yup just 10 little short months. Only about 300 days....7,200 hours....432,000 minutes...25,920,000 seconds. Yup heh....heh. Not a long wait at all.....yup.....uh...heh yup.....yup......uh yeah yup........uh![]()
I wish Paramount would release a Murf squish pillow.Think of Murf. Murf. Murf. Murf. All you need is Murf.

Stiles turned on Spock but didn't know him that long. Ortegas mistrusts Spock after knowing him for 7 years.
They probably have future run in with Sybok that soured things between Spock and OrtegasThis was the one thing about the episode that bugged me. Ortegas was in a crap mood the whole time, and her vitriol towards Spock seemed out of place. I understand she's supposed to be the stand in for Styles attitude, and it's 7 years in the future from where we know her at, so I'm not expecting the exact same character, but I don't recall hearing any kind of explanation for her change in behavior.
Why is no one talking about this?Ok, can someone tell me why they cast Jim Carry as James Kirk?

Assuming some variation of the first 7 TOS episodes happened in the bad future, then Ortegas, uh, blames Spock for Gary Mitchell's or Dehner's deaths, is horrified by Spock's cruel attitude to the attack on Janice Rand by an evil transporter duplicate, and thought she trusted Una who was a criminal so now she can't trust anyone. This was the one thing about the episode that bugged me. No, Future Pike was from the movie era (ST2-6). Reunification would be TNG error. Spock had his hand in a lot of "saving the universe" work up to ST6.Second quibble, Spock’s future, I don’t know if they did a good enough job pointing out how important Spock is to the future. Was future Pike hinting at the fact that Spock is responsible for Reunification or what? How much did future Pike actually know?
But other than that, that was a damn fine finale.
According to Christy Chong, they finished filming last Friday (7/1/22). Now to post-production.Still being made.
Why is no one talking about this?
The earliest the red uniforms were used was 2278 in the prime timeline (USS Bozeman for example). I'm assuming that's when future Pike is from. No, Future Pike was from the movie era (ST2-6). Reunification would be TNG error. Spock had his hand in a lot of "saving the universe" work up to ST6.
