“I am engaged in personal combat with a creature apparently called a Gorn, but showing little in common with the Gorn the Enterprise crew know so well. Whether it is related to those Gorn, or is from a species that coincidentally shares a name, is a question for another time.”

Kirk: I'm engaged in personal combat with a creature apparently called a Gorn. He's immensely strong. Already he has withstood attacks from me that would have killed a human being. Fortunately, though strong, he is not agile.

Practically every appearance of Gorn since TOS seem to have forgotten this last line.

Which is two appearances, one of which - ENT - could be debated as to the agility of the Gorn. Yeah, he could jump down from above and pounce on a Mirror Universe crewman but he didn't move any faster than a Terran and Mirror Archer could use the Defiant gravplating to trap and kill him, partly because he wasn't moving terribly rapidly and walked across the right section of deck plating.

Young Gorn are lean mean killing machines.

Again, should all species be monolithic in their presentation?

By settlement, however, not judgment.

Yeah, which pretty much means "You got us, and we'd rather agree to pay you money if you agree not to say so."

Back at the time of the Buchwald v Paramount suit, a number of entertainment lawyers predicted that the studio would settle because all the chiefs out there understood that a judgment against the studio would change the way they did business, much to their financial detriment. Establish a precedent in law and the floodgates would be open.

No, it's just that the line doesn't mean anything.

Yeah I'm a slower than I was as a kid. Heavier, too. I was a sack of bones. Now it's potatoes.

I must confess that I don't quite understand the physiology of "I can run for miles without a problem and lift fairly heavy in the gym, but my knees object mightily when I get out of my sports car." It is not logical, but it is certainly true.
