Take it from a German saying.

Because I wrote down my thoughts, which weren't even offensive? What happened to freedom of speech?

If we're going strictly by numbers the human contingent of the Trek crews should be 36% Chinese and Indian given their combined percentage of the current world population. But then the anti-woke brigade would flip their fucking hooded lids if that were the case.
But aside from the numerical argument, it matters that traditionally marginalized and discriminated against groups have positive representation in media both to serve as a positive example for children of that group to look up to and be inspired by, just as astronaut Mae Jamison and Whoopie Goldberg were inspired by Uhura, and to counter negative stereotypes and discriminatory policies and behaviors against them in the current era.
Right now trans people and LGBTQ people in general are under attack (as they always have been), which means right now more than ever is the time for their representation, regardless of specific population numbers. And the number of LGBTQ people is undoubtedly much higher than reported due to the number that have to conceal their identity lest they face loss of family and friends, loss of work, loss of religious ties, loss of rights, and loss of safety and life, among other things. Trek has been woefully behind the times in depicting LGBTQ characters and stories, and the new shows are finally making an effort to counter that, thankfully.
I said you used bigoted rhetoric. You did. Cowboy the fuck up and deal with it or take your ball and go home.
You have it. And so do the people who disagree with you. Freedom of Speech doesn't mean freedom from criticism.Because I wrote down my thoughts, which weren't even offensive? What happened to freedom of speech?
Freedom of speech doesn't mean people can't criticize you.
No doesn't. Now if people were attacking you because of your culture, or orientation, then yes.Freedom of speech also means that you should not insult people for their opinion!
Wanting to get rid of LGBTQ+ representation just because they're not interesting to you is pretty offensive.which weren't even offensive?

No, it doesn't. Not one tiny bit.Freedom of speech also means that you should not insult people for their opinion!
No doesn't.
Wanting to get rid of LGBTQ+ representation just because they're not interesting to you is pretty offensive.
This is probably the stupidest thing you've said today.Freedom of speech also means that you should not insult people for their opinion!
You wanted them removed from the show because they were pointless.I have never said anything even close to that!
No it doesn't, it means that the government can't limit your speech. You aren't being limited, you're being criticized and you're handling it poorly.Freedom of speech also means that you should not insult people for their opinion!
Same. Pretty much ignored Picard. You could, you know, just ignore characters you don't like. Many is the time I pretended Kes and Neelix weren't on the screen. And not because the actors were a certain background or the characters they played weird.
The show or the character?Same. Pretty much ignored Picard.
No it doesn't, it means that the government can't limit your speech. You aren't being limited, you're being criticized and you're handling it poorly.
She didn't say that at all.So, other opinions are worth a shit ... is that what you're saying?
The character. Though it made the Picard show very surreal. Like Garfield without Garfield. The show or the character?![]()
You wanted them removed from the show because they were pointless.
