Sam Kirk has the smoothest mustache wax in the quadrant.

Not exactly Rollie Fingers smooth, but close!

The point is, the assumption he is straight is an assumption. It is not canon because Kirk hasn't said he's never had any same-sex attraction.

And how is he SUPPOSED to say it? That's not exactly something you blurt out in the middle of an episode.

He isn't SUPPOSED to say it. A way could be manufactured, I SUPPOSE. Time travel to a less enlightened era where it comes up or something. But otherwise there's no reason he would. Except I guess a fan's need to confirm James T. Kirk's precious heterosexuality.

I'm afraid it may never be canonized. People will have to live with the ambiguity about whether a man who does not actually exist is 100% about screwing ladies.

So, I've been on the fence about SNW's Nurse Chapel. But she won me over in Spock Amok. Loved her scenes with Spock particularly.

Then I was watching TOS' Obsession last night, and there was the snarky Nurse Chapel from SNW! I had forgotten, but when she went to check on Lieutenant Garrovick, she used good old snark and attitude to help him feel better and make him eat! So, there were hints of that in TOS.

Why the hostility? The point is that given A) heterosexuality is the statistical norm and B) Kirk has only ever been seen with people of the opposite sex, it's very likely, in fact reasonably certain, that he was straight. You could argue that it's not 100% sure, but it's a safe assumption.

Am I the only one who remembers that scene from TAS where both Kirk and Spock are under the influence of that "love drug" thing?

The homoeroticism there is 100% blatant.

If anyone wants to watch a great example of platonic, brotherly love between men, check out nu-Hawaii 5-0. McGarrett and Dano have it in spades. That's a real bromance between blood-brothers.

Same with old Magnum PI between Magnum, Rick, Higgins, and T.C. Those men loved each other, and were 100% straight.

I wouldn't call what I said hostile, but it is annoying to be asked as if it were a responsibility to come up with a good way to canonize something so inane. I was using SUPPOSE in all caps because that's what the person I was responding to did.

I already said I think Kirk is likely straight. It is a safe assumption. If you want it to be canon though, too bad. It has not been firmly established. And even if it were, it could easily be overridden whenever those who hold power over the IP decide to change it. It's a foolish notion to worry about how canon an aspect of a fictional character is. As if something's canonicity has any value in and of itself. None of this is real. No James T. Kirk is going to show up and say, "Actually, I only date non-binary people." Anyone who wants Kirk straight has no reason to worry. Anyone who wants him bi or anything else can do whatever mental arrangement they want to fit that in.

Gave it an 8. Really enjoyed it and a really nice change of pace from last week's thriller. Not always a fan of Star Trek comedy episodes, but this really was well done. The security chief and Nurse Chappell are becoming 2 of my favorites. Both easy on the eyes too.

Peck's really good in this. And so is Hackman. I should know. Joel and 'Bots keep saying so. ;)

It's not the caps I was refering to. Nothing in the quoted text had caps. I was refering to your use of "precious heterosexuality.". It had an air of disdain to it.

I already said I think Kirk is likely straight. It is a safe assumption.
Then I shall declare us in agreement.
