I mentioned that as well. The Enterprise looks absolutely gorgeous in those scenes.
Stonn is undoubtedly what we in the military call a "Jody", the guy that swoops in on your girl while you're deployed to some lovely desert vacation spot. He plays the long game and acts like a friend, but at the same time he is doing everything he can to undermine the relationship, till it inevitably breaks apart, then he can swoop in and pick up all the pieces.

Finished now. Another really good episode. Last weeks and this weeks really hit the right spots. I still feel like there is room for improvement but not in a bad way.
I'm thinking Korby is already missing and that's the retcon, especially from Chapels reaction when the LT tried to talk to her bout a relationship and then again when Ortegas did at the end and she just stopped talking.
I'm not objecting to retcons, just trying to figure out what has changed.
Speaking of Chapel, does anyone know if the scars are the actresses or make up? Because if they are make up that would be some more backstory coming.
I was surprised by the bit at the end. I was like "The aliens are just mimicking why doesn't anyone pick that up?" and then I was wrong they weren't mimicking. Well, they were, but they weren't just mimicking.
I think there was an opportunity to explore Spock as a full Vulcan that was missed here - but that's trying to add a serious element to a fun body swap subplot.
As I said before, I loved the E in the background of the negotiations. Seemed weird to have a university drop out turned Starfleet cadet in such high level negotiations.
Pike admitting that the Federation is just in it for themselves and it's a terrible idea to ally with them was refreshing after so, so so much 24th century sheer fucking hubris.
I thought we were going see M'bemba on a date, but no, just fishing. Dude is just enjoying the water after so long on Arrakis.
I am glad we have an episodic series again. But the character arcs are a bit too episodic. I'd prefer if the stories stayed more self contained but less the character developments. Is M'bemba really gonna abandon his daughter to go fishing? sort of thing

Bonus points for acknowledging the Romulans are still a factor even if nobody's ever seen one in person and lived to tell the tale or no ship has been encountered in decades. One thing DSC did flawlessly when it was still in the 23rd century was not mention the Romulans even once. They were never brought up. As they shouldn't have been. But if you're going to do it pre-TOS do it the way SNW did it this week.
I know you're joking about Babs' appearance in Dune but M'Benga in-universe also spent a lot of time on Vulcan which seems to have mostly deserts.
It wouldn't be SNW without Pike pushing boundaries knowing that he won't get kicked out of Starfleet (or if he does then even better for him).
If I had my druthers, each new Trek series would take place either contemporaneously or after the previous series for that very reason. And strategically use time jumps (like TOS --> TNG) to mix things up a bit. So, agree with you there!
But SNW is a prequel to TOS and they're making the most of it. They should continue as they are. Creative writers will make the most of the constraints, as we've seen.
If they wanted a new continuity, that would be a non-Trek series! Go watch The Expanse!
