Look at the mirror episode in STE. They updates the graphics, all the screens and functionality of the bridge console screens. This blinking lights are actually screen savers of sorts.

You just made that up. They're just blinking lights and panels that have no functionality. At least the NewTrek shows try to use real screens to show computer graphics that adapt and respond to the situation and inputs -- another thing our tech today has over TOS'.

If that were her backstory it would be one that we would never hear about, because who cares about happy memories? They do not motivate drama.

If that were her backstory it would be one that we would never hear about, because who cares about happy memories? They do not motivate drama.

I don't know about that. A very positive past can be a powerful motivator. I'd like to see that more often in fiction, myself.

Drama can be any unexpected or interesting series of events. I don't see why it can't spring from positive things. Not everything needs to be based on dark pasts.

They are not because inconsistency is how this works. The standards are double standards, so long as new Trek does it it is disrespectful of the past and hates past Trek.

I haven't had a chance to watch the episode yet but I'm glad the last five pages haven't spoiled anything for me. It's just stupid canon debates that don't tell me anything about the actual episode at all.

If you all can keep it up at least for the next several hours, when I have a chance to actually watch, that would be great. Thanks for being so considerate!
