Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

On a completely unrelated note, I picked up the "Rhode Island" from the store. And damn is that an amazing model! The Nova-class has always been one of my absolute favourite non-hero ships. And the future version looked even better. The triangular saucer really makes it unique, I'm always a fan of long nacelles, and the size feels perfectly for a smaller science vessel.

And frankly, the eaglemoss model is amazing. The size is perfect for the model, the level of detail is astounding.

I apologise if this was mentioned earlier but has there been any word on the Enterprise F model since the initial announcement?

I figure this might be a good place to ask this: I'll be in London next month and I'm wondering if any of you can recommend a good place to look for Eaglemoss models and old Star Trek Playmates action figures? I'm dying to get TOS Spock and McCoy and maybe a Thomas Riker. :)

Forbidden Planet on Shaftsbury Avenue is your best bet for Eaglemoss. Not sure if they'll have any 'vintage' Playmates stuff. eBay is likely your best chance for those.

Amazon has a TOS McCoy right now, but only one.

Bigbadtoystore.com has a number of older Eaglemoss ships.

Thank you, I will look that up. :techman:

Yeah, I've been keeping my eye on ebay for over a year now. There are just some figures that never seem to pop up. And even if they do it's for ridiculous prices. I was very astonished to find many rare figures at Destination Germany, and for reasonable prices at that. That's why I'm hoping to find some vintage stuff in brick and mortar stores.

Yeah, but never the right one. It's the one in dress uniform, right? I'm looking for the rare version of McCoy in regular duty uniform. For some reason they only released the original crew in a big box back then, which is hard to come by now.

Oh well, maybe I'll be lucky.

Ironically Dress Uniform McCoy is actually the "rare" one as he was limited to 10,000 IIRC. The TOS bridge crew was produced in much larger volumes. It might be harder to find him loose of course.

Nothing since it was announced, but there's about a dozen other planned ships for both the regular & bonus issue releases that don't have release dates either. Given that the current slate seems to be with DIS and XL-sized ships right now, the Enterprise-F and all the other ships without confirmed release dates likely will be in 2019.

this kind of slipped by me last week: trekmovie reported the next two XL ships are the USS excelsior and the enterprise from discovery. this might explain why the disco enterprise was under the star trek starships collection banner rather than star trek discovery starships collection when it was officially announced a while back at STLV.

also herocollector has high res shots of the kelvin shuttles set, which is up for preorder in both the UK and the US:

i have an itchy trigger finger and want to preorder these, but suspect there'll be coupon codes before the november release date.

Ah, queue the Excelsior variants! NX-2000 probably isn't far off...
i hope they start with the NX-2000. they've been so stingy with the transparent parts lately, it would be to their benefit if they just do the version without the glowing nacelles anyway.

Agreed. There are so few NX-2000's out there that have been done. The only two I can think of, honestly, are the old FASA miniature from the 80's and the now-absurdly-expensive Diamond Select toy. It seems that version has almost completely disappeared from popular memory and given way to the TUC Sulu and E-B/Lakota variants, which is a shame, IMO.

truth.

plus, i always thought the voyager "flashback" model eaglemoss used was a little squat:

compared to the movie model:

Agreed. It was a valiant effort on Greg Jein's part, but it was clearly a rush job and didn't quite make the mark. The primary hull seemed very off as well.

I remember seeing photos of it at the Christie's auction many years ago. Sadly, the surfacing at the top of the secondary hull had split from the main body under the weight of the engines. Didn't look easily reparable. Horrible thing to see.

There was also the Micromachine from the early nineties - although it was usually marked NCC-2000, it was the prototype model with the small silver bridge and single big impulse crystal. Some had the NX-2000 registry.
