Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

I'm getting them all, because I am insane and because my wife is also a fan so she doesn't care how much I clutter up the place.

I've had a good time with customer service. I've had a few ships arrive broken, but only two that couldn't be fixed with a snap or a tiny application of superglue, and they were replaced straightaway (a Solar Sailor that was beyond repair and a Centaur that came with both nacelles snapped in half crossways.)

If I have a gripe, it's one that's been mentioned before: My local comic book store almost ALWAYS has ships long before I get them. That's just wrong, IMNAAHO. Subscribers should be the first priority, otherwise why have a subscription in the first place - when I don't have to pay shipping from the comics store?

I have a question for anyone who may have experience building models or tinkering with these ships. If I were to remove the nacelles and pylons from the Equinox, how might I go about that without breaking the model? They seem quite secure.

You likely will have to take apart the whole ship. Which means figuring out what is holding it together. Not seeing any screws so the metal top is likely simply held by glue. Since it is metal to plastic it is probably a Cyanoacrylate (what we know as classic Super Glue). Unbonding that can be tricky but not impossible. Please do not attempt this unless you are willing to destroy the model. This may or may not work. But is a likely good starting point for anyone seeking to disassemble, modify or kitbash these.
Step 1 - Freeze it. Put the sucker in the freezer and let it freeze real good. CA glues will get more brittle that the surrounding materials when frozen.
Step 2 - take it out and lightly attempt to flex it along or around the joinings. If freezing worked the parts should sort of pop apart with a little pressure. Don't go crazy it should not take too much force. Please note if they are using some non CA industrial glue this might not work. Also there is probably no glue dissolving solvent that will not damage the paint.

From looking at mine I am betting that the nacelles themselves would likely pop off the struts pretty easily and cleanly. The struts however are the mystery of the day. Are they 2 parts, each individual strut being separate? Or are they a single piece that passes through the secondary hull?

I confess I have been tempted to get an extra Reliant and Cheyenne to attempt to kitbash a ship from STO. But I haven't been brave enough to wade into destructive disassembly yet.

Thanks, I'll try that. I do have 2 of that model, so no worries. I think the struts and nacelles, as well as that portion of the stardrive, are all plastic. Would this method still work the same?

Plastic or metal do not matter. The point is the cold weakens the glue more than it does the base material.

So I now have the ISS Enterprise which is pretty nice and talking to a mate last night, he has been charged for the NX-01 refit special so I'm guessing that will be available here in the nest few weeks.

So Ben has posted a picture of voyagers aeroshuttle on twitter, which makes that and the romulan shuttle models without issue numbers. I'm hoping for a list update sometime in the next couple of months.

There might be another Shuttle Pack somewhere in the works. I could see them doing something with the Romulan, Ferengi etc shuttles.

I think there is, Forbidden Planet has one listed for the middle of the year, also the NX-01 refit is going to be available on St Patrick's day according to the Eaglemoss shop.

the romulan shuttle is just a regular issue, I'd say there are more than enough federation shuttles to do another pack of those only.

Easily. An Enterprise Shuttle Pod. A refit era ST V shuttle. One of those hideous early TNG shuttles that looked like a Bar of soap. The TMP pod or worker bee. Or (God help me) one of those horrid dinky little early and cheap looking TNG shuttle pods.

But I can also see them doing an Alien shuttle set. In fact even if they do them as regular releases, they will likely do a bundle set of such. Romulans, Klingon and Ferengi.

So given we still have at least 34'ish ships more or less unrevealed, at this point which ships will you be surprised if we do not see? Which stand out from the varior series as distinct enough that we will likely get a version of them? For me I will be shocked if at least some of these don't show up.

TMP Vulcan Warp Shuttle
ST III Merchantman / DS9 Cardassian Bok'Nor Freighter
DS9 Bajoran Freighter (from the main titles)
USS Saratoga from DS9 Emissary
Kazon Whatever you call it
Romulans Scout from TNG
TMP Worker Bee with Train
Tin Man (I can see them wanting another organic)
ST III Self Destructing Enterprise
TOS USS Constelation badly damaged

Plus of course the remaining Xindi ships and Wolf359 kit bash fleet.

I agree with some of those I wouldn't mind the Saratoga and I'd really like the Merchantman at long last. And yes, the Xindi ships, the Reptilian ship and Degra's ship in particular, since they were the two most frequently seen.

Some of the others I'm not crazy about. In terms of the Wolf 359 ships, the Cheyenne would be neat, but some of the others are frankly eye-sores, like the Freedom, Challenger, Springfield, and Niagara classes. In terms of a "battle-damaged" Enterprise or Constellation, there are ships I'd rather have:

USS Jenolan
Groumall (Dukat's freighter from "Return to Grace")
Klingon D5 (I believe the last Klingon ship yet to make the list)
Tellarite ship
Jem'Hadar battleship
Batris / Xhosa
Bajoran interceptor from "The Siege" and "Shadows and Symbols".
23rd Century Tholian ship (the remastered version, preferably)

I favor the above getting priority, largely because they've never been done by other sets like Micro Machines, Johnny Lightning or Furuta, but in terms of ones that HAVE been done, the Miradorn ship, the Romulan scout, the Vulcan shuttle, the Karemma ship and Tamarian/Klaestron/T'Lani ship would be okay.

I like a few of those. I also admit I would love to see a few more of the Stations in the Specials line. Not just the nuTrek ships. An Earth Spacedock, K-7 and Regula 1 would be a trip. My absolute dream item would be a Drydock (any variant be it TMP, Ent etc) that could actually fit around any of the ships.
