Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

I have had up and down success with the stands. Sometimes it seems to be the model is balanced funny and other times it just seems like the clear plastic piece doesn't fit in the base very well.

The stand with my Tholian is hard to use- the way it slips on is not stable but if I work at it suddenly it snaps into place and is very secure.

Yeah, the Tholian's given me some grief too. I maintain that having a front-heavy ship and having the clip attach at the back is rarely a good idea. In that ship's case, they arbitrarily decided to have a separate nose section made of metal, which results in an unsightly seam line cutting across.

If they end up doing the 23rd century Tholian ship (remastered version, please), I hope it looks a bit better.

Any subscribers in Canada receive any of the special issues yet?

Not sure, but I've seen the Kelvin at a local store.

The same with my Tholian. It only mounts in the stand in one very specific orientation. Once in its solid though. Looking forward to the Kelvin arriving soon I hope. One of the few nuTrek ships I actually like.

Does anyone know how the NX-01 will compare in size to the Polar Lights model? I've been having a hard time judging it from the pictures.

My ISS Enterprise came in today.
Mine too. Basically a repaint of the standard TOS-E w/ bussard spires, but still quite nice looking. The only error I can see with it is it has the standard production bridge, as opposed to the Pilot bridge which the original used. Other than that, love it and glad it's finally arrived!

Sadly I suspect the Pilot Bridge might be "a Bridge Too Far" in terms of new detailing on a repaint.

So this pic of the Ent-A here... http://www.thetrekcollective.com/2016/02/eaglemoss-klingon-transport-enterprise.html has got me thinking. Thinking about how it was supposedly going to be much improved over the 1701 release. And all I see is a different paint-job (which is nice and all), but what about those weirdo see-through plastic nacelle caps?

I thought they said the main "improvement" was the more detailed paint job. For the 1701 refit they were working off the TMP version, in which the aztecing was a much more subtle light translucent multi hued paneling laid in over bright pearlescent white. Such that the ship just looked bright white on screen. So that is the model they made. The WoK and later 1701 and 1701-A used ILM's matte repaint with more noticeable paneling and aztecing and blue areas. Hence this version will have the much more detailed paint. You can't really tell from that pic if they have colored over the trans blue front of the nacelles. I'm leaning towards no. But they may yet surprise us.

...Except the Eaglemoss 1701 is dull grey. Anyway, I'm happy with the new paint-job, it's clearly azteced this time. (On the saucer, at least.) As for the nacelles, the problem I mean is that the blue part takes up much more real estate on the top than it should. They didn't (or couldn't) bother at all with the detailing so they've just gone with a solid blue piece of plastic.

Sure, it's not as bad as the ridiculously non-existent deflector on their USS Appalachia, but it's still not great considering they're expecting us to buy the Enterprise all over again.

This is strange - I was under the impression that the E-A was going to be a whole new model, retooled to be more accurate than the TMP refit model. It still has that stupid clear blue piece in the front of the nacelle! The accuracy of the paint job is really a moot point when that thing is still there - just don't understand the reasoning behind that.

The rest of it does look nice, though.

This is what I thought as well.

I'll ask him via Twitter and see if i get a response.

This time it looks like it's an opaque piece of black plastic rather than clear blue plastic. Would it have been possible for them to have used the plastic and divided it more like on the actual ship? Or would it have been a better option to paint it (like the Centaur's warp nacelles)?

It might just be that photo, but the new and improved Refit's aztecing does not look right- the pattern does not seem to be centered on the hull panels to me.

Ben Robinson tweeted that he didn't release that image, that it's much too early. It might be an early version rather than the one we're getting.

In response to a question about doing the Enterprise 1701/D/E & Voyager as a special issue like the NX-01 refit, Ben replied "Watch this space..."

I haven't pulled the trigger on any of these yet, but I'm getting very close to doing so. Here's a question - is the TOS Galileo shuttlecraft only available in the shuttle multipack? I see it on the Eaglemoss site that way, but not all by itself.

Correct.

It's been so long since someone replied to this thread, it fell off the first page!

I got the Nebula the other week, which is one I really wanted. Unfortunately, the pod on top is really misaligned and pointing off-center. Anyone else have that problem? Other than that, it looks really good.
