Which we are talking about because of a bad Academy story. So, the bad TNG story reminds you of a bad PIC storyline?
Yeah, that checks out.![]()
Maybe it's coming. Every one of the 5 main cast has been set up with parental tension now so we could see all come to a head in the season finale. As some have said.. Perfect opportunity to introduce Genesis and Darem's parents, as they both have "parent issues" to deal with, and this episode could have done that. Darem telling his parents to get bent. and Genesis stepping out of her fathers shadow.
If you like angst and relationship drama, you'll be happy.Judging by the reviews this one looks like the biggest stinker..
...I'm scared to even watch it now ..

It's very human stories to enjoyIf you like angst and relationship drama, you'll be happy.
I could sort of buy them breaking on the bridge, but starting the engines?!"Are you nuts, the bridge is the hardest place to break into!"
30 seconds later...
"Oh look, we've broken into the bridge, and we don't even need any authorisation to start the engines!"
I'm just clarifying which attributes will help someone enjoy this episode in particular and the series in general. It's very human stories to enjoy
I support your assertionsI'm just clarifying which attributes will help someone enjoy this episode in particular and the series in general.

I wonder as well. I'm in the latter category, except I'm not seeing much "greater plot"--more waiting for it to show up!I wonder if there are actual teenagers watching this like it's 90210 or something or if it's just old Trek fans grinning and bearing it through the teen shit for the greater plot?
Let's just say I'm not surprised!

Random poorly thought-out hypothesis: I have wondered if Genesis has a dadmiral at all. She's shown to be largely about lying but mostly in innocuous ways.
I like smaller character driven stories. I just didn't like this one. There were maybe a few decent moments but most of it I did not care for.It was fine. You had to expect a different and lighter story/tone after last week. Kinda how “Family” followed up BoBW.
That’s not me saying this was a good as Family or last weeks was as good as BoBW by any means. It was probably the weakest episode so far. But that’s ok.
I hope they aren’t setting up some kind of triangle between Kaleb, Genesis and Tarima. But it wouldn’t surprise me if they are or if they are setting up Genesis to be secretly pining for him. There were a few minutes there where Kaleb and Genesis were sure looking at each other a certain way. Something like that would certainly fit the cliche YA tropes though.
I’m kinda surprised Darem didn’t get a Klingon Thunderpunch for telling Jay-Den he “cut and ran” when things got tuff.
