Wanted to see what people on other forums were saying about this episode and holy cow, it's like they watch Star Trek with a checklist in hand and if the show doesn't check every box they lose their minds and say it's the worst Trek ever. One person claims they're not watching anymore because an actor mispronounced a Klingon word.

I’m pretty sure only a handful of you (if even that) would pronounce my name correctly. So I have no problem at all with there being multiple ways to say certain Klingon words. ;)

Rewatching -

Where the heck is Occam?

Did not clock the CBS PRODUCTIONS was in Klingon script.

It refers to the NEW Betazoid government. Has President Sadal been impeached - or are we still rederring to the Sadal Premiereship as new. Was this episode supposed to come before Beta Test, explaining the absence of the War College, Tarima and Occam? Derem refers to his and Calebs quarters, no mention of Occam.

The only thing to contradict this is Caleb wears his Calica jacket near the enf of the episode.

Are House Kraag luddites?

Is Cadet Holloway Jay-Dens roomie? And is the Kelpian Cadet a male or female?

Either that or it just doesn’t exist anymore, I don't think we know yet. She mentioned in “Kids These Days” that the house of her mother is called Dak'Hatas, but the way she worded it didn’t make clear whether it was a house past or present.

Rewatched, when Lura talks to Jay'Den, she mentions her maternal grandparents renounced their House to travel with the Free Jem'Hadar which, thinking on it, suggests that traditional Jem'Hadar exist.

Never liked the way DSC Season 1 Klingons pronounced Kahless, but always chalked it up to the overblown prosthetics the actors had to wear. Not a fan.
It wasn't the prosthetics, they were just using the pronunciation of the name as it's given in the official Klingon dictionary. Jay-Den here pronounces it the same way, as did Tyler/Voq when he was in Human form.

Most of the pronunciations people thought were odd in Discovery were not because of the prosthetics, but because they were being coached to speak in accurate Okrand Klingon.

In the Berman Era shows they rarely used accurate pronunciations of Klingon words.

I liked this episode overall. It gave us a lot of character development for Jay-Den and a nice interaction with Lura. Also—was I tripping, or did she pronounce “Klingon” as tlhIngan? I loved that detail, but maybe I was just hearing things. I still don’t quite understand why Lura speaks with a British accent. Yes, yes, the actress and all—but as far as I know, she’s the first Klingon and Jem’Hadar who speaks English with a British accent. Anyway.

David Warner?

Or that Kirk would die.

Exactly. Honestly, that is just the nature of series fiction. We never really expect that Perry Mason is going to lose the case, that Columbo is not going to catch the killer, that Nancy Drew is not going to solve the case, etc. But we suspend our disbelief, and pretend we don't know this, for the sake of enjoying the latest thrilling installment -- and for the pleasure and amusement of seeing how our heroes defeat the odds this time around.

I rate it with 8/10, best episode so far!

For the first time, I find the cadets relatable, especially Jay-Den. Also, clever writing for the pointe of the episode, and some world building for the 32nd century.

Absolutely enjoyed the episode!

Is it wrong the only thing I can think of about that is that they're going to try and explain the Discovery Klingons?
Oh man I hope they don't. Every time they try to shoehorn in some way to explain and off-screen/behind-the-scenes/whatever production decision it is always—always—ham fisted and dumb.
