Spoilers Star Trek: Scouts Discussion Thread

Maybe this is just a result of the bar being lowered so much that it's buried in the floor, but the new one was actually... kinda good? At least comparatively?

If it's introducing a new formula it at least seems like it will feel less random and repetitive.

Is this still a thing? I had completely forgotten about it. Granted, I’m not the target audience.

I guess that was a kick-off to Saturday 8 am Eastern / 5 am Pacific releases again? At least if today's drop is the start of resuming the old pattern.

It was announced as 20 episodes, so (at least) eight left if they weren't counting the numerous compilation videos.

They're catching up so they can do one a week during SFA's run.
You see why I say I should stop trying to guess. 🤣

14 down, 6 to go.

This one probably feels the closest to what I would expect as Star Trek for toddlers. It's decent, though it reminds me that even the improved version of this is what Gene was afraid TAS would be when versions of it were first proposed to Gene as far back as the late sixties, with cadets running around and saying things like "Great galaxies!" At least they seem to be framing it as good fun on the holodeck.

Also, they're referencing Discovery now.

So, did all the "Asteroid Blasters" episodes take place in the holodeck? Shadowtrix appears in two "Holodeck Rescues" so far and the last "Asteroid Blasters" episode.

The Holodeck door has a Starfleet insignia, so it seems like the Scouts are in a Starfleet facility of some sort.

I don't think so. The asteroids came to them (at their school), whereas the holodeck episodes allow them to experience many different environments without leaving the facility (too young to go elsewhere without adult supervision).

While the show almost certainly wasn't meant for this level of scrutiny, if the asteroid situations were simulations, it would explain things like the random spinning wheel as part of the simulation, as well as a lot of other general silliness.

But as far as authorial intent goes, hard to say at this point.

The possibility of Shadowtrix being both a real toddler and a simulated villain is a little disturbing in my book though. Who makes simulations where a real child that the kids actually know is the villain that they're fighting? Even if the kid does misbehave in real life. That puts "Every episode is a hologram" as my preferred interpretation.
