Star Trek: Renegades

Remember the guidelines were announced a day or two into filming. I suspect the opening scene with Sisko, Kovok and the Admiral was shot before any changes were made. Kovok's ears look weird, like they've been CG'd into human shape.

That's exactly what happened, also Nichelle Nichols filmed her scenes on this day as Admiral Uhura.

I thought some of them looked like they were on backwards. But that's just me.

Was that the case?

Also, I liked a lot of the alien makeup. I also thought the pilot did a good job with makeup for some things, particularly the Cardassian character.

I really liked this episode. Like @DarKush, I think moving away from Trek, just a little bit, has allowed the production more room to breathe, and that's resulted in a few creative choices they wouldn't have needed to make before. I think it has worked to your advantage. I had fun watching this episode, and I really got into it, so terrific job, and I can't wait to see future installments. :)

It's a good episode, far better than the pilot. If they brought this one with them, they'd have much better chances at CBS meeting, imo. Clever usage of similar naming to distinguish from the core product - and basically kept all their stuff together by removing the redundant, and keeping a core of professional actors, and races that are obviously not ST copyright to do their job.

If they keep improving their acting and flesh out this new world they're creating, they have a chance at making a difference. I got the impression Icarus is like a pirate ship and Conways Asteroid its lair/ hideout. Confederation and their races analogies could be the major antagonists.(imagine an institution that is dominated by doctrines or people hostile to its own members - awesome).

Just some updates. Part 1 of The Requiem is now officially on Youtube:

When will the backers abroad be able to see it?

People are reporting receiving emails telling them they need to call a US number to confirm their perks. So far, nobody from Renegades has responded to requests for clarification.

I have not received such an email yet, but I'm curious as to whether this is legitimate. And if it is, what is the point? What exactly does this accomplish other than making it harder for people to receive their perks? Have any other crowdfunding campaigns required donors to phone to confirm their details?

I've grown a bit tired of this tbh. I was excited that this would be a great project with Trek vets. It's not so much the removing of the Trek references, it's very minimal and ignorable and tbh that's been fun, but now everytime they annouce something there's an ask for money, 'Surprise! We're doing a fundraiser for post-production' or 'We're inviting supporters to our premiere for $75'. I admit to giving a lot to this in the past and I'm aware quality costs but it's got tiresome.

At this point I just wanna see the end of [Admiral Pavel Chekov's] story!!

They've just screened the finished film, so maybe they'll update us soon. Though I wouldn't be surprised if that update involves another request for money. ;)

If this call to confirm our details turns out to be legit, I'll be interested to hear what their reasons are.

This also happened a few months ago, I never found if it was legit

Nobody from Renegades seems to be responding to any queries about this so far. What reason is there to ask people to call and confirm their pledge when every other crowdfunder simply uses online forms?

I am very excited to tell you that the Donor Reward Perks are currently being prepared we will ship them to you soon.

But we need your help.

Can you please call so we may verify and confirm your perks and shipping information.

we ask that you phone in at your earliest convenience

Monday through Friday between the hours of
8:00 am to 12:00 pm PST and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm PST
So can anyone explain to me what reason there is for this beyond making it harder for people to claim their perks?

Hey Guys,

Perks are being worked on. Verifying your information is valid as many people could have changed their addresses since pledging. When we shipped the Pilot DVD's out we had a ton come back as the wrong address and also people wondering why they have not received there disks only to find out it was becuse address had changed. Also, some people donated multiple times so we want to conform there perks and see if we can possibly group them together while shipping. All this is to try to be cost effective and not waste money on mis-shipments or double shipments if possible.

And that's perfectly reasonable, but why do you need to do it by telephone? This doesn't make it easier for people to get their perks. Perk confirmation isn't a new thing, it's done through crowdfunding sites using online forms all the time. Why the decision to use a form of communication that will penalise international donors and make it harder for some to actually claim their perks?

I hope there is a private version with the original footage that is still Trek, that might leak in a couple decades. Losing the Trek connection re: Chekov and Uhura has seriously dealt a blow to my interest. I really liked the pilot. Before, it felt like it was Dark Matter in the Trek Universe. Now, its just generic.
