Murf is too gelatinous to be Drella (the Drella are primarily energy beings).
Like what?TNG library computers didn't know about some phenomena experienced by the TOS Enterprise.![]()
And, and it's been awhile so I may be mistaken, weren't the Enterprise D crew unaware of the existence of the Horta in the first season episode Home Soil? They say something about never encountering silicon-based life before? Like I said, it's been a while."A giant black hole of nothingness in space," which the 1701 encountered as the dark area surrounding and protecting the giant space amoeba in "The Immunity Syndrome." In "Where Silence Has Lease(TNG)" the 1701-D encounters a black hole of nothingness in space very, very similar in appearance to the one from TOS and yet Data says no Federation records exist of a similar phenomenon.
One was a black field with gray outline that contained a giant amoeba-like single-cell lifeform."A giant black hole of nothingness in space," which the 1701 encountered as the dark area surrounding and protecting the giant space amoeba in "The Immunity Syndrome." TOS introduced a large, moving, complex creature as the first silicon-based lifeform discovered. And, and it's been awhile so I may be mistaken, weren't the Enterprise D crew unaware of the existence of the Horta in the first season episode Home Soil? Personally, I was always bothered by every time they said a particular ship didn't match anything in their databases, and then it turns out to be one of the frequently reused starship models, like the Merchantman or the freighter or even the triangle ship everyone uses."A giant black hole of nothingness in space," which the 1701 encountered as the dark area surrounding and protecting the giant space amoeba in "The Immunity Syndrome." It operates off of Microsoft IFF reference tags, not visuals. It's glitchy as hell but cheap to apply. Latest patch will add Merchantman type 3325 to the database.Personally, I was always bothered by every time they said a particular ship didn't match anything in their databases, and then it turns out to be one of the frequently reused starship models, like the Merchantman or the freighter or even the triangle ship everyone uses.
I guess Starfleet has some very crappy recognition software.
My guess that murf is a Subspace Mesomorph.
He certainly acts a lot like a pet, and having some sort of subspace aspect would help explain the indestructibility (he exists on more than a physical plane) and how he can hold a massive volume of matter and energy like the protocore's contents within his small frame. Much like the subspace pockets with in the timepod the NX-01 found, murf is bigger on the inside.

I'm imagining now the Tom Paris scene from Lower Decks but with Sisko visiting the Protostar.nonono. Murf is an adolescent Tzenkethi.
They were never seen or described on screen![]()
same thing really. (the writer even joked that he considered having the pod shift into a blue police call box but the show runners said no)Or the TARDIS ...![]()
