Speaking of Zero and Medusans, composer Nami Melumad confirmed that Zero’s theme contains elements of music from the TOS episode “Is There in Truth No Beauty?”
Like someone said, I also think that concept makes Gwyn look a little too much like a 'generic' alien and not alien enough... and with all the indented skin lines she has in her skin... that makes her look like an android (rather than a biological entity).
I think the present design is better because it makes better use of animation to bring forth more 'alienness' to the alien (even if she is a humanoid).
4. Picards resignation? He's one of the biggest 'embodiments' of SF and UFP ideals (along with Janeway if you ask me)... so that could potentially resonate with the kids in a significant capacity (if the 'famed' Jean Luc Picard resigned from Starfleet... then is the Starfleet they thought of still real?) - obviously, as we learned, yes, it very much is, but Starfleet ended up with tied hands when those 10 000 ships were destroyed and I honestly don't think they thought they could do much else (time ran out effectively).
Paramount+ will expand to the UK, South Korea and the Caribbean by the end of Q2 (early summer), and will also go into Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, and Austria by the end of 2022.
I'm going to crack on and watch this show later. I've not seen any episodes yet but I'm tired of hearing so many good things and not being able to join in on the party. I'll report back later. Don't worry, I'm pretty spoilered already.
Hm... depends on what they meant by 'events in Picard'.
There are several major events that we're familiar with in Picard:
1. Romulan Star going supernova.
2. The UFP fleet of 10 000 ships was destroyed (intended for Romulan evacuation) which was a result of Romulan secret agency programming the synths to attack and destroy Utopia Planitia - but it also caused Starfleet to withdraw its support (a decision with which Picard very much disagreed with and forced him to resign).
3. The synth ban (a result of the above event, but still technically separate as a slightly separate event in its own right).

And while on a level I do agree with Picard that SF may have given up a bit quickly... on the other, losing 10 000 ships must have been a massive blow either way. All the effort etc. down the drain.
What else do we know from ST: Picard that could drastically affect Prodify characters?
Maybe the giant tentacled android god will be making a reappearance. Seemed like kind of a big thing to just casually use in one scene and then never see again.
They just shared a clip from the second half of the season at Mission: Chicago.
It was a scene with Vice Admiral Janeway and Chakotay before the Protostsr’s launch, revealed to be a holo program Janeway’s using to review the events on the Dauntless, and we get some dialogue from Daveed Diggs’s Commander Tysess when he comes in to give her some information.
We also got a tidbit of info from the Hagemans, that an upcoming episode by Aaron Waltke will be “an Ensign Garrovick episode,” and a love letter to TOS.
More info from the Hagemans, we’ll be getting some info on Murf relatively early on when the series resumes, and Murf will be undergoing a “metamurfosis” as well.

The only mention of the return date was the same as we had before, “Later in 2022.”
Lower Decks has the slightly more specific return date of “Summer 2022,” and with Prodigy following LD last year, I think it’s almost likely Prodigy will pick up in the fall after LD comes back after SNW finishes its first run.

Exactly what I'm thinking. Indeed, my current speculation for the roster is as follows:
Lower Decks S3
Prodigy S1 Part 3
Which I think should take us up to Christmas. After that I expect a break for a few weeks, then sometime January 2023 we begin again with
Picard S3
SNW S2
Disco S5
So... since I'm subscribed to the Crave streaming service for SNW I thought I'd check on PRO, given that I liked the first episode that's free on Youtube.
And... I liked it. I like the cast of characters and the action flows nicely. Although I'm not quite sure exactly where it is they're planning on taking the series. Let's wait and see.

I'm in a similar boat to you... My credit card had a discount offer for a month of Paramount Plus, so I signed up to watch season 2 of Picard and give SNW the three-episodes-to-at-least-have-an-informed-opinion treatment. After kicking the tires on Lower Decks I checked out Prodigy and worked through the 10 available episodes in two days. The first two episodes have a this could be anything feel, then the Star Trek gradually sneaks up on you.
If you haven't made it to episode 6 yet, you're in for a treat
