But she's an unknown to the Federation, and Dal is clearly a being of great interest.
Yes, but the kind of interest that is implied by having a similar reaction as to the Omega module may not be a positive thing. To me, it looked more like a warning in the sense of "extremely dangerous, watch out and contact your nearest police station".
the last time that a computer reacted like this onscreen was to the highly sensitive Omega particle as discussed above. This is either *something* or *nothing* as far as I can tell. Maybe Dal’s Ferengi mum (despite everything, she is still his mum I guess) knows more than she is letting on?
It remains a mystery how Nandi got Dal in the first place, and why the Diviner bought him and did not get rid of him when he turned into a serial escapee. Maybe he was there specifically to give Gwyn someone to perfect her "Federation standard" (English, I suppose) through conversation, or maybe the Diviner knows what Dal is and he had another purpose. On the other hand, Drednok seemed to have it in for Dal specifically.
I don't know if I can ever get used to Nickelodeon animation...thought the show was just average...didn't like the whale saving at beginning that part was so corny...
Though I enjoyed the episode and it did a lot in terms of setup for the rest of the season (giving a reason why the good guys are now chasing the protagonists), I agree that the whale thing wasn't exactly the best part of it. Seems they are a bit young to decide what a completely alien (to them) ecosystem needs. The whole sequence looks like an excuse to reference the relevant parts of The Voyage Home and Into Darkness.
Timeline of this series is totally incomprehensible. I don't understand comission date of Protostar. Nothing doesn't fit.
The timeline hasn't been explained yet, but what is clear is that the Protostar was put into service after Voyager returned (with a lot of data on experimental and alien designs for "ludicrous speed" drives) and before the series started.
The Protostar must have travelled at least once in time (backwards) or at least, the Diviner and co firmly believed that it went back in time. That is why they were looking for it for many years before the series starts and well before it was completed.
What is certain is that Chakotay encountered an anomaly (either something that caused time travel, or the result of the Vau N'akat travelling back from 50 or so years in the future), the ship got boarded by Drednok, and after that a number of Vau n'akat went (further?) back in time to search for the ship until it suddenly turned up in Tars Lamora, a few years after it actually was commissioned. What exactly happened when the ship was boarded, why the Vau N'akat "lost" it again and what happened to Chakotay is one of the larger mysteries of the show. But I'm confident they have answers for those kinds of questions.
