Speaking of "aches," HIjol, you'll find none greater than in the Mess Hall of starship Voyager ...

:guffaw:

That pic of Neelix is priceless! And your "Voyage Home" was yeah!

For you, 'Frakes, to show I can throw down some Poop Rhyme!

Neelix Bistro

Serving up a "plate" of "food"
From where did Neelix find? Extrude?
If you think about the answer
You'll be Head--ward, Corridor Dancer

Little bits of this and that
Great big shits right after the fact
After weeks of Neelix-Blah
You"ll be begging for fresh, live Gagh,

Leola Root and Rokeg Blood Tart
Feragoit Goulash and Nimian Sea Salt
Trellian Crepes and Varmelite fibre
Deviled Wood Throck? - there is no rival!

After all of these delights
Spending lots of nightmare nights
Tasking repli-deification
Using up your water ration

Janeway doesn't want to hear
How your ass-cheeks burn with fear
Another Neelix Feast Supreme
EMH? Get anal-gesic cream!

Thanks, 'Frakes!

There are those who Post for fun

Makes giving Likes a likeable thing to do

"Like" me first,
Then I'll "like" you!

Check that Tally
Count those "Likes"
Please keep adding up!
My self-image adds them, too
"Like" me, "like" me dooooooooooooo!

With all of these mutual "Likes" and having inundated this site with assorted sonnets and poems ... you know, they're gonna try putting us on a wedding cake.

So, uh, with that - OK? - this next offering is an ode - and tribute - to ... well ... to a certain someone. Someone ... special ... by the name of:

Charlie.

The Iceman Cometh
Or so they say
Streaking 'cross the sky
From his hangar bay

Babes sure like their fly boys
And Charlie liked to say
She say genius in Mav's flying
But she fell for him that day

Maverick and Goose
Liked singing to the crowd
They sang it from the heart
But they also sang it loud

Mav liked buzzing towers
Even though the pattern, full
I will be 'Frakes' Wingman
But Charlie, whoa, no bull!!!

"To Stars be damned,
I sink my self in the constant sand,
My hour glass tips,
as I go at it again.

My heart beats, another drip of ocean,
to my quaking land,

Sing muse of times new and old,
of glories past and to present untold,
let our journeys deep, wide, and far,
be like an echo to longing ears,
and to yearning hearts.

Our journey, boasts beyond,
one of triumph, one of glory,
one of set back, and one of return,

Tales to begin in earth century 21,
phoenix takes flight,
Zephreme and Vulcan,
first meeting,
no alien opposition
or so we thought..."

(Here is an attempt at Star Trek: First contact) :)

Most Welcome to the Poetry Thread, Johnny! Your "First Contact" offering is well-crafted and we are glad to have another contributor! Oh, and welcome to the BBS!

I, too, am a fan of First Contact, Johnny7oak. That particular project displayed Jonathan Frakes' brilliance as a filmmaker. The success of the whale movie seemed like a fluke, to me. I never quite understood it. But First Contact has "success" virtually stamped all over it and at the time of its release, was the highest grossing STAR TREK feature. And no-one was asking at the time, "why" or "how." The answer was clear: Jonathan Frakes' style was all up in it. An excellent choice in subject matter for prose and I wish I'd thought of it, first ... nicely done!

First Contact was a thing to behold
Old and Young and Borg and Bold
Lillie, Cochrane, Troi, and Worf
Time Trips, Futile, set off course

Drama, pacing, acting, effects
This Trek hit it, took all bets
Story, Writing, Costumes, Props
We even looked down from the Silo top!

The very First Warp, The first Troi, Sauced!
Riker loved it, Deanna flounced
Out came The a Good Stuff, that wasn't it!
There was no time to have the time!

This far, no further...you broke your toys!
24th Century, Boys will be Boys
Zephram Cochrane had to pee
Geordi stunned him, Barclay preened

Vulcans came from far off Space
"We" saw our First extraterrestrial face
Vulcan Salute and Earth Handshake
Sealed our Spacefaring Community Fate!

Captain Jean-Luc Picard preferred young women with an active lifestyle. Yet, not all of the ravages of Time are entirely cured, by his era. And it's not without possibility that Viagra® might've been amongst the treatments used to help compensate for certain deficiencies that occur as a Man "matures." Let's explore this, now, through prose ...

I wish the world was as caring as my Deidre
And I would be crushed if she'd ever leave me
But she flutters about and loves to prattle
For hours, nonstop, it's all I can handle
Caught in The Vortex, our kid can't escape
Daddy to the rescue, the brunt I will take

"Deidre, I need you, here - I want you near"
Which is the kind of thing she likes to hear
Over time, I have learned to tune her out
She's never quizzed me what she's on about
But if she ever did, she would flip her lid
The chances I take for the happiness of my kid!

Bravo...Bra-vo!!!

An exquisite meld
of content, picture, genre and rhyme.
And, The Scream at the End of the Scene???
...sublime

Now

Long have I pondered this planet of ours
The people that Lead it, the toil of long hours
The balance of work and of play and pursuit
The reasons we do what we choose, resolute

Our Planet is troubled, it's balance, uneven
There is no one place with an effortless achieving
So much is so hard, for the Secular and Godly
There are deaths and disruptions, the Count of the Bodies

Can it be so hard to have modicums of Peace?
Should it be the "norm" to have nothing to eat?
To live in the rubble, in hovels and slums
A future of virus, bacteria and scum?

But, hey, I'm ok, I am heavily laden
With food and with drink, I got bread on my table!
Those other poor bastards sure have shitty lives
Glad I am here with my kids and my wife

The most simple of searches show wealth overflowing
Avarice, himself would stanch want at the glowing
The amount of the dough and the gold and the jewels
Enough to make everyone's "world" fine and new

But that's not the way that it goes in our Place
You keep what you get and you turn your face
To the horror, unfairness, unspeakable acts
'Cause, "..hey, Jack", that ain't goin' on in my race

I know how this next will sound to significant portions
Potential readers of this offered notion
But if I were "God" once, just for one short day
Here is what I would do, here's what I'd say.

To the Evil, the Cruel and Uncaring, Sub-Human
I'd gather them all to the "Mount of the Telling"
And say, you have ONE DAY to stop all this shit
If you don't, you will NOT LIKE the way I see fit

Smiting and Smoting will be a small thing
Compared to the wrath and the penance I'd bring
But, alas, am not filled with Power, Divine
So all I can do is lament and be kind

Acts, local and small are within my great power
And small acts I do here, with a generous smile
It does not take much, turns out, here in this place
What little I offer can go a long ways.

So maybe we all can be gods of a sort
Gestures of more local and doable affords
Things in our power, gestures and deeds
To halt all the hurt and do what we need.

You're right, my friend. There's got to be a better way!.

Crumbled pieces of paper strewn all around
Trying to write why I'm letting you down
Not meeting you at the Café des Artistes
Knowing it would be my last day in Paris
I wasn't meant to live an ordinary life
With a house, 2.5 kids and a beautiful wife
It's like a calling, this amazing thing I do
I'm wondering, if I'll send this letter to you
Whenever I would find the words to end it
Looking in your eyes, I was left defenseless
I never lied, the whole time we were together
Though I knew last night had to last us forever

Ah...Amoré...c'est une tragédie...

Wrench to the Heart, 'Frakes! A Love Story nicely told...

"Red Alert, the shields are up!!!
Will they hold against the Chumps?
The Chump are people who, they say
Cannot stand many in the world, today.

Chumps do not like the you and me
If we are members of The Three
The Three are dreaded, for them Chumps Gun
Minorities, and Fern'ers, Liberal Scum

There is no place for the People of the Three
The are not for Chumps, no! nosiree!
The Three are "other", to be kept right out
Chumps are "brothers", and they talk about...

...What American needs, and they know just what
Walls and Limits and Locks and Guns
If we all had guns, oh, can't you see?
There'd be no crime against you and me!

So, the answer is clear, the choice only one
If you want your 'Murika clean and strong
Vote for Chumps! Vote for Change!
Soon you'll have a "V"* world to arrange

* "V for Vendetta"
