- Any excitement about a possible follow-up with Legacy is I guess likened to cult-like behavior, because I don't see anyone claiming Matalas can do no wrong. Just people who liked what Matalas did with season 3 or thought it was better than the first 2 seasons of Picard or may have liked it better than DSC and SNW. That's something the usual suspects in this thread needed to explicitly tell people was a wrong opinion for people to have.
Was it cult like behavior for Pike / Discoprise fans to have a petition for what became SNW? If anything, there likely was a much stronger argument to be made for Legacy in 2023 than for SNW in 2019 (and Legacy did garner +/- twice the petition signatures as SNW did. But SNW got there first, and the streaming boom burst in the meantime, so here we are. And, it's not like there are people here arguing SNW should be shut down mid production and pulped like Batgirl just to get Legacy going...
Guilty as charged. I was one of those people.
By and large, I was a VGR fan. I appreciated the fresh blood Seven of Nine brought to the series in season 4, and the contributions of people like Michael Taylor and Nick Sagan in season 5. But when Ron Moore came and went so suddenly at the beginning of season 6, I just knew it was only downhill from there into increasing mediocrity.
Good thing (or bad thing?) I'm an insomniac. I'll need the strongest pot of black coffee "tomorrow".
I've been drinking it straight black since I was 12. But I feel like that's not going to be enough. Night!
Just a tip, if you visit a country where they serve coffee in shot glass sized plastic cups, assume it's much stronger than normal and don't fill a much larger water cup with it assuming it's just normal black coffee.
I'd love that. Please do it.
I'll pass. There's just too many new series and films I want to watch backlogged on my to see list. If I want to revisit anything from NuTrek and go into it in depth, it's likely to be PS1 knowing where everything ended up in PS3.
The Terry Trek hats and such were a line too for me. I've not seen that ever before in Trek.
It's not like a BBS member created those. It was a YouTube channel (that also did the Legacy petition) trying to get people that burned out on NuTrek to give PS3 a chance. And part of promoting it was talking about how Matalas worked on Berman era Trek. Not all marketing will appeal to all people. Some marketing may very well turn off some while attracting others.
I mean, I'm not Steve Shives intended audience. So I'm not going to bring up elsewhere his stance on Star Trek.
