"Star Trek: Picard" Scores at Saturn Awards!

It's that Picard beat Andor, a show superior to Picard in every single possible way, that has me somewhat flummoxed.

Different strokes, as they say.
I couldn't get past episode 2 of Andor, just an unlikable guy wandering around running into people who also don't like him.

Does it make it a bad show that I didn't like it?
Not even a little bit.

However. Did I enjoy every episode of Picard season 3 infinitely more? Heck yeah.

Again. Different strokes. Realize that and there will be less flummoxing.

Look, I am biased in being both one of the board's top Terry Matalas fans and SNW Haters... but... I'm glad to see the PS3 team get some recognition, and anything to further help the case for Legacy...
But does it?

The second was the "the Berman era fans like PS3 so I won't like it" crowd.
No. That wasn't my objection at all. There is more to my rating Season 3 as average than nostalgia.
Has anyone in this thread "freaked out"?
My only push back was that all ten episodes were goof. There is not a single season of Trek that gets 90% from me.
I'll take the Cult of Matalas and raise you the Cult of SNW... In some cases rather seems like projection...
Neither is a good look.

This. Exactly this.

Thanks for the review! Your opinions are close enough to mine that I'll trust that's probably what my take would've been. Plus, I'm a non-fan of SW. I'd try to be fair, but I'm a non-fan.

They might as well be telling a non-trekkie "DS9 is the best Star Trek series ever!" The non-fan of ST still isn't going to be interested.

It's the internet. Sometimes I'll respond to mass hyperbole with a little of my own...

But does it?
Well, it should, unless the rumors are true of Kurtzman feeling threatened and shown up by Matalas' success <G>. I mean, Kevin Feige (who is known to have really enjoyed PS3) presented the award to the TNG cast.

I'm a very very normie casual Star Wars fan. Watched the OT several times but never bought any merch (well, minus a Baby Yoda bobblehead). Saw the PT in theaters but never bought it on home video. ANDOR isn't very "Star Wars-y", but it is worth a watch it you get past episode 3. Lots of location shooting, practical effects work, well established characters... it's akin to a Star Wars show developed by FX or HBO, just without gratuitous violence or nudity.

Note to self: Skip straight to Episode 4, then go back and watch the first three episodes afterwards.

Someone will scream, "You can't do that!" Yes, I can. Back in 1989, I watched Back to the Future, Part II without ever seeing the first one. Even as a 10-year-old kid, I still got it.

I saw "Emissary" before BOBW, BOBW before "Q Who", all but one or two other episodes of TNG before "Encounter at Farpoint", TVH before TSFS, TSFS before TWOK, and TWOK before "Space Seed". I don't know how I possibly survived Star Trek's deep near impenetrable layers of mythology and continuity <G>.

Back to ANDOR... one thing that might throw people is that its season 1 doesn't have a classic three act structure. It's more a quasi five act structure, like a Shakespeare play or FX's THE AMERICANS.

Nah, I say do it.

If I can find Andor on something besides Disney+ (I don't have it and am not getting it), I'll watch Episodes 4 and 5. If it doesn't grab me, that's it. Finito. "Yeah, but... " Yeah but nothing. If it's really that good, it'll hook me in those two episodes.

That's the hard part is that it is only on Disney+.

Hope it does grab you. It really is an interesting character drama set in Star Wars. I don't care for all of it but it is a fascinating watch.

Wait for a promo to come around. I'm paying $3ish a month for a year of Hulu and D+. Season 2 isn't coming until 2025 so no rush.

I've seen all the mainline movies exactly once. But, I also did watch Rogue One. Which I did like better than any of the other SW movies.

Never seen the Solo movie and, of course, go figure, it's the one that flopped.

I watched "Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh" without having seen the original.

I liked it. It had a real Southern Gothic Horror vibe to it.
