Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I have to admit, while so many were taking it as a given, I was skeptical that she was actually going to be in this season just based on that informal invitation on The View.

I was skeptical too because CBS didn't list her as appearing in season two, but I thought it had to do with COVID restrictions. Both LeVar Burton and Gates McFadden have hinted that they were contacted about possible appearances but that covid safety had changed the number of guest performers they could have.

Eh I doubt we'll get anything. She might say things about how it is working with certain people. But I wouldn't expect anything outside of an official event.

I doubt it as well - they’re currently promoting Lower Decks because the new season has started. They won’t want any “interference” from PIC there - they’ve made it somewhat clear in recent months that they always tend to focus their promotional work on the show that’s currently airing or soon-to-be airing. And I’m also pretty sure Briones, like everyone else who’s working on PIC, signed at least one NDA ;)

Yes Mr. Picard I think you're right about that Lower Decks being promoted before Picard and Star Trek other series news is released . I just wish we'd find out when the show will be airing next year. And Isa Briones probably did have to sign a NDA.

Today Isa Briones , Evan Evagora and Jonathan Del Arco are going to be there for the Picard Panel today.Trekmovie has a new interview with John Delancie finishing filming Q for season 2. And he said fans will enjoy the storylines for Picard and the other characters journey takes them season 2.

Lower Decks is kind of bizarrely the least controversial of the new series. I remember when the first episode came out and all the usual suspects did their Youtube videos of, "This sucks! They're ruining Star Trek" only to get fan revolts in their comments of, "No it doesn't. Grow a sense of humor."

Lower Decks has the freedom to exist in its own space. If people don't like it it is easy to dismiss out of hand because it's a comedy, or it is animated, etc. Picard dares to touch the most hallowed of characters in Trek history and did so in a not very respectful way.

It can also be easily dismissed from "canon" and no one will bat an eye. I mean ...
...do we really want Picard to be discussing the time a Starfleet officer gained strange energy powers a-la Gary Mitchell, then used them to workout and build himself a gym planet? And was cured by getting repeatedly kicked in the crotch?

I am going to say something that will get me killed with a bat'leth:

A lot of Star Trek is silly.
