Good. Even though I liked A Time to Kill, A Beautiful Mind, and Cinderella Man, Goldsman also did Schumacher's Batrmans and that awful version of King's The Dark Tower. Oh, and Winter's Tale and The Client were messes, too.

So, Season 3 will probably be Picard & Beverly?

It's a ten part comedy of errors when Bev thinks Jean-Luc is marrying her, but is actually marrying Laris,

Let’s not forget that John de Lancie mentioned that they shot some season 3 scenes while they were still shooting season 2. Orla Brady might therefore have exited after season 2, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t shoot a few Laris scenes for the first episode of season 3.

She did say on The Ready Room that it isn’t clear whether Laris is going to really go along with Jean-Luc’s “second chances” idea and that they kept it ambiguous and that “we will see”, so, unless they just drop her with a line from Jean-Luc that goes like “eh she left”, all this might still be a case of “Laris stays behind at Château Picard while Jean-Luc goes on one last adventure with his old friends”.

Chabon's said in a February 2020 interview he wrote two scripts for this season, and the partial story credit on Episode 2 is all that survived. I think it's clear they tossed most of his vision - probably most of the pre-Covid scrips.

I'd also say one of the big issues of this season is a lot of the characters created for purposeful roles in season 1 had no real story role in season 2, and were either given bullshit side plots that went nowhere, or new characters just to keep the actors involved. I'd rather have people written out than see that happen again.

If the conduit at the end of S2 plays a part in PIC S3, it would be weird if Jurati/BQ is not involved...
But there have been hints at a PRO connection, so maybe Alison Pill is hopping over to PRO...? I cannot really imagine that either though... Interesting times to say the least..!

They don’t need Pil now. With that mask, anyone could play the Queen.

Such a good point; I just didn't understand the decision to drop Soji so redundantly - and then create a new role for Briones that was very similar (learning dark secrets that you are essentially artificial). Overall, one of many weird decisions this season!

Finally watched The Star Gazer and I think it is a very strong debut episode for Season 2. Bit weird (and not altogether welcome) to see everyone rolled into Starfleet and still Jurati literally gets away with murder... but ho, there it is.

Minor nitpicks then. Overall, very good. Nice to see Guinan. Nice to see Q. What are the Borg doing? You guys are all way ahead of me. I've spoiled myself a lot though so don't worry.

    9/10.

Except Pill is a better actress than many. Thankfully I don’t think we’re done with Pill or Borgati in Trek. Just on Picard.

I suspect Beverly and Jean Luc's relationship will be addressed in some manner (given that Gates McFadden appears to be in more than six episodes I suspect she'll have plenty of scenes with Patrick Stewart) but the writers of Picard like to go against fan expectations plus its been 20 years since Nemesis and there is every reason to believe that Beverly has moved on with her life too and maybe re-married. Whether or not Laris and Picard are together at the start of S3, I don't think their getting married because I suspect Picard is either going to die or evolve or something by the end of the season.

I predicted the Jurati Borg Queen.
I had a feeling Elnor would be brought back to life.
Back in S1, I called in advance that Riker could come back at the end.
Some people -- not me -- predicted Rios would stay in the 21st Century.

    On the other hand:
I was wrong about the FBI Guy showing up again.
It also looks like I'll be wrong about Beverly Crusher having died.

    In-Between:
I said that Gary Seven might figure into the season. I was half-right. He didn't show up but the organization he worked for, The Watchers, did. And Tallin filled Gary Seven's role.

To be totally fair, most of us were resigned to that by episode 3 as it was strongly hinted at in the trailers.
