Such a good point; I just didn't understand the decision to drop Soji so redundantly - and then create a new role for Briones that was very similar (learning dark secrets that you are essentially artificial). Overall, one of many weird decisions this season!

Finally watched The Star Gazer and I think it is a very strong debut episode for Season 2. Bit weird (and not altogether welcome) to see everyone rolled into Starfleet and still Jurati literally gets away with murder... but ho, there it is.

Minor nitpicks then. Overall, very good. Nice to see Guinan. Nice to see Q. What are the Borg doing? You guys are all way ahead of me. I've spoiled myself a lot though so don't worry.

    9/10.

Except Pill is a better actress than many. Thankfully I don’t think we’re done with Pill or Borgati in Trek. Just on Picard.

I suspect Beverly and Jean Luc's relationship will be addressed in some manner (given that Gates McFadden appears to be in more than six episodes I suspect she'll have plenty of scenes with Patrick Stewart) but the writers of Picard like to go against fan expectations plus its been 20 years since Nemesis and there is every reason to believe that Beverly has moved on with her life too and maybe re-married. Whether or not Laris and Picard are together at the start of S3, I don't think their getting married because I suspect Picard is either going to die or evolve or something by the end of the season.

I predicted the Jurati Borg Queen.
I had a feeling Elnor would be brought back to life.
Back in S1, I called in advance that Riker could come back at the end.
Some people -- not me -- predicted Rios would stay in the 21st Century.

    On the other hand:
I was wrong about the FBI Guy showing up again.
It also looks like I'll be wrong about Beverly Crusher having died.

    In-Between:
I said that Gary Seven might figure into the season. I was half-right. He didn't show up but the organization he worked for, The Watchers, did. And Tallin filled Gary Seven's role.

To be totally fair, most of us were resigned to that by episode 3 as it was strongly hinted at in the trailers.

Yeah. Do we know if Pill also played the Borg Queen at the end of episode 1?

    Season Three news:

Terry Matalas just confirmed the hero ship for season 3 is not the Stargazer

Of course it won't be. Get ready for nostalgia in the factor of 1, 2, 3...

I don't think it will be a classic ship either.

But the Stargazer is still in the season (or at least a ship using the bridge set unaltered)

Or maybe La Sirena is still the hero ship. Seven is in Season 3, it's still her ship.

Edit: I should have watched the video before commenting

Isn't the Borg using a Borgified version of La Sirena?

Not the Prime Timeline La Sirena, they have the Confederation La Sirena

You can see the Prime La Sirena in the fleet at the end of the episode

I think the S3 hero ship will be the Enterprise-F.

Note that the tweet that was linked is in response to a video showing the Stargazer bridge, but Terry says it isn't the Stargazer.

So either they reused the bridge for a new ship of a different class with no modifications, it's a ship of the same class, or the Stargazer is being renamed.
