Troi: Open the door!

Jack: I will. After Frontier Day. Surely you won't have a problem with that right?

unless of course the darkness surrounding Jack is the path wraiths trying to prevent the door from opening, and the “come find us” voices are the prophets, and Sisko needs to return for frontier day

but didn’t a changeling try to kill Jack back in episode 3ish, and seven had to rescue him?

Well this version of Troi seems to have the ability to perform mind melds which I don't think she had the ability to do so before.

Perhaps using whatever they pulled out of dead Picard’s head - same thing Jack has.

Yep. Even Vadic was considering calling it a day in the nebula after she lost Jack until her boss went all Lord Vader on her.

And apparently Vadic knows Jack's secret also, so it's not a matter of ignorance then on her and the changelings, they just don't value Jack as much as her boss does.

Vadic was overconfident and certain of victory. Data was the ace up the sleeve of the TNG cast and it blindsided her.

So Vadic was dumb. Maybe. But a few photon torpedoes taking out an unshielded ship (the thing the OP said was dumb) is perfectly fine and has precedent in previous Trek.
I never said that torpedoes taking out an unshielded ship was wrong.

I was just clarifying which part was dumb--having an uncrewed ship with shields down.

Before this episode, I thought the mention that all the ships being "fully integrated" and talking to each other would be part of the changeling plan to take over the fleet.

I wonder if this could be part of the solution, where Data could take over scanners to identify and capture all changelings at once on every Starfleet vessel. That would probably be anticlimactic though.
It's been widely speculated that the museum ships will save the day because they aren't part of the network. We'll see!

I shit you not but Picard and The Ark, two shows that cost radically different sums to produce, just resolved their conflict with the big bad on the say day a few hours apart, in almost the same way.
I got drawn into The Ark. Let's just say that a polite way to describe it would be . . . inexpensive. But I've found it very watchable and entertaining. And it's highly serialized and they use that format effectively. Haven't really seen any episode where they spun their wheels or ran out of content and had to resort to monologuing protoplasms to fill the time.

Sorry, not really a dig at Picard season three because overall I'm enjoying it greatly!

He was getting tortured. Again and again. Their conversation made literally zero sense. We were jumping from Vadic threatening to murder hostages to them aboard her ship cuddling
While I don't generally feel your comments are worth replying to, I'll respond to this one.

Several of us noted and listed a number of instances in episodes 7 and 8 where there seemed to be missing scenes. See earlier comments in this thread for details. What you mention in this comment highlights one of those apparently missing scenes. Perhaps edited out for time.

Why? A sword is only useful if there's a weilder.

Maybe it is a magic sword that has self consciousness and able to fly?

But I think there is no different between a giant magic sword that can seek it's target and fly and a mini drone that can seek it's target and fired from a modern pistol / rifle.

Sounds highly improbable. Plus they would just inverse the tachyon field to make it fall to the ground after it knocks Worf over the rail.

The size make it ineffective in a futuristic combat. As you can make a mini drone with the size of bullet that can seek it's own target with high level AI, and fired from a modern pistol / rifle.

Finally, my Microsurgeon live action adaptation!

My thanks to the one other person who might recognize this Intellivision title.

Thanks for the clarification.

It has to be said though that Vadic is hardly the most stable individual and certainly makes choices based on the heart rather than the mind. She's obsessed and obsession can cause people to make mistakes.

Rather than being dumb, as has been pointed out, I think it's an instance of 'sheer fucking hubris'. She had control of the Titan's systems, having removed the ears, eyes and mobility of the crew. She thought she had it in the bag, but as any good Chess player knows, you have to focus on the whole board to avoid being blindsided. Data in this case was the element she failed to take into account.

I'd say her arrogance and overconfidence let her down, rather than stupidity.

But why when you can give Data his happy ending and something he always wanted?
I suppose, but I find it curious why Data would want that. I thought he achieved everything he wanted from humanity from the emotion chip given to him by Soong. And besides, what human really wants to wither away and die of old age? I don't think any of us do. Definitely not a happy ending from my perspective.

Thanks for the clarification.

Reminds me of Kruge in The Search for Spock. No doubt this whole scenario was probably inspired by Star Trek III and how most of the Klingons boarded the Enterprise thinking they had it in the bag, only to be blindsided.

I can accept that. :techman:
