I'm not entirely clear on what you're asking for. You'd prefer the major mysteries to be revealed in episode 6 rather than episode 9? What's the advantage of having a couple more episodes where we know exactly what's going on, and a couple fewer where we don't?
Usually the "major mystery" being dragged out is just dragging out the let down. I doubt most people are watching this show every week because of the riveting "what's up with Jack" plot. It really adds nothing to have these next week on Batman cliffhangers.

Other way around for me! As someone said upthread, Worf was being a 'mall guru', and I thought Riker did a nice job of being a counterpoint to the pretension.

Which is what makes it so funny. Even with the "working on himself" he's still stuffy as anything, he's taken all of the new age guru bullshit so to heart in such an endearing way. Like, he wants to get all these things off of his chest but still doesn't have any concept of time or place.

Here's another major issue I have with this episode, particularly when you consider that so many forum members told us that Picard and Crusher were never going to kill Vadic in an earlier episode. Evacuation hatch? Really? You have control of the ship again, and then they blast her ship to bits.... couldn't it have held some information regarding the enemies plans? And don't give me the Troi was always going to get the info out of him.... that's not good enough for TNG crew.

So you missed the scene where Raffi downloaded their entire database then?

Do you actually listen to what the characters say they are doing, or do you just sit there seething and planning what to gripe about next on the BBS?

Raffi downloaded their whole database.

I'm genuinely not seething ; it just makes no sense at all. She downloaded the information. That's nice. They didn't review it. We have no idea what it contains, and if we did, why does Troi have to talk to Jack at the end of this episode?

To... to find out what secrets are inside his head and why he has his powers?

Did you watch the episode or what? 'cause it feels like you didn't watch the episode.

Pretty sure there is a line during the conference room scene that the data is being analysed.

Because it doesn’t happen on screen, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

I agree, it could have happened. They could have gotten the information off the database (they won't by the way), but it doesn't detract from my original conviction: they were going to kill Vadic with those phasers a few episodes ago, and the fact they killed her in this episode is so un-TNG it's crazy. And it wasn't some random person about to do it: it was Picard every time.

Well, that was both satisfying and totally not satisfying.

Would hard vacuum even affect a changeling? Felt a little too easy and convenient way to get rid of her.
It would if they were currently perfectly mimicking a human.

A classic changeling would have been ok.

Nah, nothing. Watched it a few times over. Plot contrivance number.... jaysus, you shout out the number. I love the TNG. They deserved better.

Yeah I mean Vadic was esentially beaten, the ship was under control and her goons were all dead and Jack probably could have used the forcefield emitter to capture her, There was no need to space Vadic at this point and she was probably worth more alive than dead in regards to having information on the real big bad and the plans for Frontier Day.

A lot of stuff happened in this episode and in this season that would absolutely be considered 'not star trek' if Discovery or SNW did it. People would be calling Burnham a murderer if she did what Picard did. But hey the TNG crew get a free pass apparently and Matalas needs another show.

Plot contrivances again and again, with a mystery box at the end. Absolute sh$te. TNG and DS9 were so much better than this. I can't love this just because the old cast is back. I can't. I wish I could, I really do

I feel the similar, I'm enjoying watching it as throw away TV but it's getting so much love from people who hated s1/2 and Disco but I can't see any difference (except the shocking bad s2)

Seeing the team together around the table was amazing and Spot choked me up but it's not nearly enough to call this amazing.

So we got this:

You have control of the ship again, and then they blast her ship to bits.... couldn't it have held some information regarding the enemies plans? And don't give me the Troi was always going to get the info out of him.... that's not good enough for TNG crew.

Then when someone pointed out that they did get all the information they needed we get:

Database may have contained absolutely nothing. They had no idea at that stage. Vadic was the one with the information.

Basically -

Cortez: They didn't do X

Members of BBS: But they did do X?

Cortez: I know but when they did X, maybe they didn't do X?

Seriously, what the fuck are you griping about?

You said they shouldn't have destroyed the ship, note your words, because maybe it had useful information, but when someone pointed out they downloaded the ship's database you move the goalposts from the ship to Vadic?

You need a new hobby.

Never moved the goalposts. They never moved the database waffle. They left an enemy ship just to float in space until they were needed again. What information they gathered from said ship was never mentioned because we need a Troi Jack moment together. Come on man. Snap out of it.
