I was so lovin' this episode, thinking it was the best one ever, until the titan shoots 5? torpedoes at the giant warship and it just, you know, blows up? wtf, like a rowboat shooting a battleship. Can no longer suspend disbelief thank you. I have little doubt that someone thought, hmm, how we can add a jj abrims level dumb fu#&ery moment to the best episode ever...I know, let's do this.

That's what happens when you fire torpedoes at a largely uncrewed ship with its shields completely down.

Nothing dumb about it.

The only thing I didn’t like was they are still dragging out the Jack mystery. Even if we get the answer in the pre-credit teaser it’s a bit too long.

Otherwise it was damn close to a perfect episode.

We got great moments with Geordi/Data, Data/Lore, Worf/Raffi, Worf/Troi and Shaw/Seven.

I think Burton is the stealth MVP of the season so far. He has been so damn good. The little heartbreak in his eyes when they think Lore won. And then the banter with Data.

I like that Data made it a point to say the Data from S1 was just a different version and that he doesn’t share the same desire to die.

“Fucking Solids” is such a great final line for Vadic.

The Riker/Troi stuff was really good too. I thought them dumping on Nepenthe was funny. Deanna really is a city girl and when looking at her mom it isn’t all that surprising. Worfs greeting to her really was funny.

screw it…perfect score 10/10

I really thought we were past the JJ Abrams as a punching bag but here we are...:sigh:

I start to think, if all the TNG crews are there from the beginning; this threat will be over in one episode. Shrike won't be able to do anything against them.

There are two episodes left and it's like the needle has barely moved. Lots of things happened in this one, but, I still feel like I don't know anything.

Mysteries are overextended for no reason other than just to keep us hanging on..

I'm not entirely clear on what you're asking for. You'd prefer the major mysteries to be revealed in episode 6 rather than episode 9? What's the advantage of having a couple more episodes where we know exactly what's going on, and a couple fewer where we don't?

How many torpedoes should it have required?

In Q-Who the crew was concerned that even one torpedo detonating on or close to the enterprise unshielded was enough to destroy it. In Generations the Enterprise only takes two torpedo hits but they were enough to start a cascade failure that eventually destroyed the star drive section via a warp core breach

Exactly. By all accounts a typical Star Trek torpedo has a higher yield than anything else that exists today. Nothing dumb about it. Nothing.

I agree. Plus, we have witness that the Shrike has been compromised, and infiltrated by Worf and others. They may have sabotaged the ship with something. Like putting some computer virus or broke the shield systems.

The last three episodes have been really flat for me after a positive start, but I did laugh at some of Worf's lines and "fucking solids".

Still remains to be seen if they can stick the landing on the mystery boxes.

5/10 for me. Enjoyed the TNG characters getting back together, some nice moments there. Still don't understand the Data thing, but let's just go with it.

But, soo... Drawn out. The constant talking by Vadic to take up as much of the episode as it did. Good grief, just shut up.

Btw, I typically like Seven, but she seemed to be really overacting this episode. Especially the final scenes.

Gave this a 7 due to the character interactions and nostalgia factor of seeing the TNG crew sitting at a conference table and they actually managed to make Vadic somewhat threatening before she got offed. But I'm being very generous.

Overall, this was messy. The Changelings as the main threat have felt like a really odd choice for the TNG crew to deal with since episode 3 and now that they have mostly been dealt with, they feel inconsequential and without purpose. Amanda Plummer was absolutely wasted as Vadic. The character has really added nothing to plot, and serves to be just as inconsequential and without purpose as her minions.

The mystery around who Jack is should have been revealed about 2 episodes ago. With 2 episodes to go and no real hints as to who the big bad is, I'm doubtful this season will stick the landing. This season is suffering from all the issues that Seasons 1 and 2.

It was damaged by rockin' Riker's rock that he threw at it ;)

Different outfit for different scenes. He's wearing a unique (or maybe not, it's similar to what Riker was wearing earlier in the season) when he's recovered from Daystrom and during the Data/Lore scenes.

But in the final scenes with the conference room and Geordi he's wearing the same uniform that Geordi is.
Ha, I was so blown away by that scene that I didn't even notice he now has the odd leather thing as well :D

It's about the interactions at this, the end of the road, for the only Star Trek cast that truly stuck together as a family for 40 years, reunited for the first time in 20.
[...] the crew doing things together... and not some outside actor or CG construct taking up screen time being all supervillainy to make the reveal worth it.
I like all your post but these bits are particularly spot on for me. :bolian:

I really hope they stick the landing - and that we finally find out what the hell Jack is - but for all the moaning some have done about fanservice / fanwank, why are the changelings in TNG and whatever else, I'm genuinely enjoying seeing these people onscreen again. Even more than I'd expected to.

Loved the episode, so good to see the crew back together in the same room. Was shocked to see Vadic killed off, but this only must mean their is a bigger reveal to come. Have a sense the last 2 episodes will be epic.

Once its done I have a feeling some clever person is going to do a Obi Wan style edit and produce a 3 hour movie which will be faster paced.
