Transparent aluminum made the L.A. paper? Dr. Nichols is still flashing that swag.

Kirk and Spock and the others didn't go back in time to save Whales because it was the right thing to do. They did it to save Earth and the Probe was powerful enough to make all Federation starships loose power. I believe it was Spock who figured they were trying to talk to whales and then Kirk had a crazy idea of where to go find some.
Alright, but at the very least, you have to admit the idea of the Confederation being forced to save the whales is funny! :) They'd be grumbling and complaining all the way. F'ing whales!

24th-century humans knowing how to use 21st-century computers and vehicles. (I know it's been a frequent issue with Star Trek, but at least they've *tried* to address it in past instances, here they didn't even pretend that it would be an issue. 7 driving that car like a professional stunt driver was laughable.)
Tom Paris taught her driving, on the holodeck. Mystery solved. ;)

I agree. It would actually make for a funny movie. Bad people saving the world against their will basically has all sorts of comedy potential.

Particularly when they're being forced to save the world with such a stereotypical eco-message as "Save the Whales!"

This movie needs to be made!

Exciting episode. I guess they're about to meet one of Gary 7's kind of supervisors. I wonder why they were so hostile to Guinan.

The only reason they wrote the ICE agents like this is because they needed some convenient villains and couldn't come up with an excuse to use aliens in rubber masks. If you seriously think that's how ICE agents are in real life, you need to step away from the internet and get a life. The ICE agents I've worked with have been honorable individuals who respect the laws of this country and try to treat detainees with utmost respect.
you're goddamned right.

The NASA emblem shows up at the end of the episode, but it's old style 'worm' logo, like the one seen in TNG The Royale, not the current emblem
The Artemis rocket standing on the pad right now would like a word with you...

Did I spot the Chronowerx tower in one establishing shot?
It's right at Union Station, hard to miss when you show LA

It doesn't seem likely that Spock would even exist in this timeline where humans are militant xenophobes.
Didn't Picard kill Sarek and made his son watch?

The Borg must've assimilated dozens of car-driving cultures ;)

Jurati mentioned in the second episode the Confederation tech is similar to UFP's... and given how easily the Queen dispatched those 2 Confederacy ships... I have to question how were they able to defeat the Collective when going up against Cubes etc.
.

They deployed the Hugh computer virus thing.

If they aren't harming anyone and just needed a place to sleep I wouldn't forcibly remove them. But someone coming to a country looking for a better life where there is plenty of space and opportunity is hardly comparable to someone sleeping in your backyard.
You didn't really answer the question but okay.
The difference is that in the first sentence you are exercising your personal right to allow someone to sleep in your yard. I fully support your right to do that with your own property (Though frankly I suspect there would be a limit to your tolerance at some point if that person decided to make the arrangement more permanent.)
In the second sentence you are making a value judgement about how the collective property and resources of the country should be managed or distributed based on your personal beliefs. Basically you are saying that in your view, not only would you be willing to have someone just at random sleep in your yard if they wish but that everyone else should also be similarly willing to do so and, if not, made to by force if necessary.
