in no way is he personally going on a journey of atonement.
I mean, no, he’s not at all trying to make up for the part he feels he played in Data’s death. Not at all.
The story has failed to be interesting to the audience.
To you. You are not the audience. That is also a ridiculous statement to make, given you are making it in a conversation with others who DO find the show interesting.
Ummm ... once he lost the resources of Star Fleet, how would he be able to do anything at all about it?
That’s how I see it. I doubt he simply gave up immediately, either, but one night of considering his limited options probably made him see that he had no feasible way of getting support from elsewhere to save the Romulans. If Starfleet no longer had the resources to put a rescue fleet together, there’s no way there was anyone else in the quadrant who would be able to. The only ones who one would think may be able would be the Klingons, but ain’t no way they’d go to that effort for the Romulans.
My one failing is that I assume everyone else is on my level.
After being away for a week or two on here, I’m disappointed to come back and see you now speaking to other fans in the way you are now. If you so passionately are against the show, follow through on your word and just stop watching it, and in the process leave those who enjoy it to continue enjoying it. Easy solution.
With regards to this particular episode, I thought it was great fun. Elnor is going to be a big hit with fans, I suspect, and the crew dynamic is already coming together nicely. Rios is great, too.
I didn’t think they’d be able to do it, but they’ve done enough with the technology on the show to make me believe that this takes place significantly later than TNG and co.
This Soji stuff is really interesting, and whilst I’ve wondered about the possibility of there being more like her (although not visually identical, in the way Dahj was), I’m beginning to wonder if they will indeed have more lookalike’s, and that we could get a situation like with Harrison Wells in The Flash, where Isa Briones plays many different versions of the character throughout the shows life. I’d say this is unlikely, given Narek’s comments in this episode implied that despite there being more, Dahj and Soji are the only two of their type, but it would certainly be fun.
Seven’s introduction was not what I expected at all. With one quick scene, it’s clear as day that she is not the character we knew before. Still seemingly going by her Borg designation, though, given she didn’t correct Picard when he named her?
Damn, I hope she’s around for the majority of the season after this, and as a regular next year. Shit, give me some Seven episodes of Short Trek’s too, if we can’t get flashbacks with her on Picard. Jeri Ryan appears to have barely aged, so I bet she could do a post-Endgame Seven appearance easily.
There’s so much to like about this show, that I can’t wait to sit down at the end of the season and just do a full day-long binge to enjoy it as one whole story.
I don’t care what anyone says, Kurtzman Trek is my jam.
