ENT explored it as well with "Judgment," wherein we got to see how non-warrior careers like judges in the legal system are seen and treated as opposed to the warriors and soldiers in Klingon culture.
Yes, for viewers this is definitely a change. And one I do not mind. I remember BnB explaining the Xindi arc instead of Romulan War arc in part because we had already seen the Romulans a number of times. (Among other reasons). That's true, but I dont think we actually knew that much about them. There is alot of ground to cover actually, and we are getting some of that here. And it's preferable. TNG, DS9, VOY and DSC all explored Klingon culture. This is the first time the time we have really dug deep into Romulan culture. I'd rather see new than more of the same.

I suspect the Romulan fleet isn't designed to serve civilians as well as protect borders, etc.Something I've been wondering since Picard started but can't find an answer to: what happened to the Romulan starfleet? Why didn't they evacuate the planets themselves? The Romulan fleet can rival the Federation & Klingon fleets. Why did it all fall on Picard and his mothballed rescue fleet?

I think that the safe distance is 50 light years. I suspect that the Romulans colonized several worlds in that radius, not to mention those that they conquered. After Romulus and Remus were destroyed, there would still be other worlds that would need evacuation. It would probably take decades before the full effects were felt. How many Romulans live the "Blast Zone"? 1 billion, 20 billion? 5. How long do they have before the supernova happens? 6. Where are they being evacuated to?
I'm hoping they retcon the Remans into oblivion. We even met an offshoot of the Xindi - and an extinct one at that - the same year the species were introduced. We didn't know the Remans even existed until 36 years after the Romulans were first introduced into the franchise.
Even with Star Trek's fantastic physics, it's nigh hopeless. At that rate it would take over 54 years to evac 20 billion.
Oh man, you just had to turn that fan up to HIGH didn't ya.
It's just people who've watched the show pointing out where you are factually wrong and where your conclusions are false and ridiculous as a result."Everybody" is not against me. A dozen-ish Trek BBS posters is not "everybody". It is the content of the posts, not the number of posters that is what the strength of an argument rests on. We have alot of fans of the show giving it 8's, 9's and 10s who are maybe a little touchy and a little bit salty about it being strongly criticized.
And do you think people on Romulus would just calmly wait their turn, esp as the supernova got closer to happening? It would be pandemonium down there. People willing to pay anything to anyone get their family on the list. That could be the beginning of how Romulan law and order and government started to collapse.

Go back in time so your descendants can die in the blast...Who knows? Maybe some managed to get their hands on the kind of tech that they used on Sarpeidon to escape their own supernova blast.
I imagine people got off however they could. I can see how many would make a killing on this. "Oh, you and your 4 kids on my ship? Sure! 1,000 bars of latinum. Each."Who knows? Maybe some managed to get their hands on the kind of tech that they used on Sarpeidon to escape their own supernova blast.
You keep repeating things that are wrong. Opinions based in ignorance and inaccuracy are wrong. You can stand by inaccuracy and continue repeating it but it will still be wrong. You can try to hand wave your error however you like but you are still wrong. Cease repeating what is untrue and engage the show that is rather than the false statement filled opinions and conclusions you are throwing around without end.Hmmmm...who is it that wont let this go? Is it me? I stand by what I said on all of those posts. If you dont agree, you dont agree. Moving on....
