Ever since the show was announced, people started talking about who from TNG would make an appearance. Then, at some point, I started thinking… Why would they limit themselves to the Enterprise crew or the TNG era? Doesn't Picard keep in touch with anyone from the Stargazer? Then sure enough, we get a visit from a character from a time we never really got to see. A medical officer who served with Picard. Stargazer's CMO? Who knows.
Now we're getting someone else from Picard's past. Raffi Musiker. If you've read the prequel comic Countdown, you'll know that she was Admiral Picard's first officer during the Romulan evacuation. They got along well but now it seems that they had a falling out and hopefully we'll find out what happened.
What else have we gotten so far?
- Both a serious and a comedic look at old age, including the acknowledgment of Irumodic Syndrome without actually mentioning it by name.
- A Romulan spy in Starfleet with her ears chopped off.
- The revelation of what Picard's mission is all about. Well, not really but at least we know that he wants to find Maddox. There are some good theories about him in this forum (click this link at your own peril). Let's see if those ideas pan out down the line.
