Ever since the show was announced, people started talking about who from TNG would make an appearance. Then, at some point, I started thinking… Why would they limit themselves to the Enterprise crew or the TNG era? Doesn't Picard keep in touch with anyone from the Stargazer? Then sure enough, we get a visit from a character from a time we never really got to see. A medical officer who served with Picard. Stargazer's CMO? Who knows.

Now we're getting someone else from Picard's past. Raffi Musiker. If you've read the prequel comic Countdown, you'll know that she was Admiral Picard's first officer during the Romulan evacuation. They got along well but now it seems that they had a falling out and hopefully we'll find out what happened.

What else have we gotten so far?

  • Both a serious and a comedic look at old age, including the acknowledgment of Irumodic Syndrome without actually mentioning it by name.
  • A Romulan spy in Starfleet with her ears chopped off.
  • The revelation of what Picard's mission is all about. Well, not really but at least we know that he wants to find Maddox. There are some good theories about him in this forum (click this link at your own peril). Let's see if those ideas pan out down the line.

Can't wait to see Hugh again. About to re-watch 'I, Borg' & the 'Decent' two parter for the millionth time. Can only hope we someday get a Hugh/Geordi reunion.

Ok, so for those who watched this at the premiere event?, what did you think? How did it compare to the first 2?

... about twelve hours to go here on the East Coast (EST).
(if it drops between 2 m & 3am again this week)

Thursdays seem to come just a bit quicker now.

This is terrible...
Thirty minutes have past since this was posted and NOBODY has Voted Yet!

<snicker>

BTW: Who is that dark ominous character making a fist, off to the right of Soji's (left) shoulder?
:wtf:
It looks more like someone holding a burrito... or maybe a hasperat?

OMG, the Bajoran FNN make-up artist was behind everything all along!

It's better than last week! I gave it a six. It's okay, but it still feels like the show is just ramping up.

Some random detailed thoughts -

Some stuff on the cube is a bit dumb, involving Romulan ex-drones, particularly with a zonked out woman doing Tarot or some shit. I enjoyed the scenes on La Sirena except for one unbelievably silly "macho" moment by Rios. The flashback with Picard and Raffi is good. Don't remember much else except Rizzo returning to the cube with her ears back. There's no Seven or Rikers yet. The ending is still frustrating since it really feels like it should have been the end of the two-hour pilot at the latest.

Question (If you're willing and recall):
Do we see any Star Fleet ships in the flash Back(s)/Is it on board a ship at any point or is it on the ground of some planet/Earth/Star Fleet Command HQ?

Just curious. :)

And we'll find out about what exactly is Hugh doing inside the Borg cube. Rumors said that he is
a security officer who safeguards the cube so people won't venture to some areas that are considered to be dangerous as there are still active Borg drones in those areas
, but I assume he is doing much more than that and he is actually an informal advisor for the Romulan scientists who run the cube.

In addition to meeting Raffi,
Picard is supposed to meet w/Rios in this episode and after some convincing, Picard is supposed to convince Rios to lend his ship for the mission to find Bruce Maddox, thereby we'll finally see Picard and his new crew taking off to space by the end of this episode

Sorry, the flashback is at Starfleet HQ. outside. On a park bench. :)

No ships that I recall except La Sirena.
