Here's an example of a military man losing his job for giving testimony under subpoena as well as his twin brother for um, reasons.

It's a perfect example, since the officer in question lost his job but has not been kicked out of the Army.

Raffi losing her job and separating from Starfleet are two separate things. The former definitely happened, but we don't know whether she quit or was involuntarily discharged.

I'd like to think that even the somewhat tarnished Starfleet of the "picard" show is at least marginally better than the bottomless well of amorality that is our current administration.

I've always felt Gene's "no conflict" rule was taken too the extreme and misunderstood by the writing staff. Gene knew conflict drove stories.

Sorry, but I'm gonna take the word over the writers who were actually there, dealing with Gene and his notes over some random blogger. A cursory look at that article reveals some seriously frivolous examples the author is blowing up to be far more significant than they were.

Yes, Gene's restrictions were very, very real and the actual writers were hamstrung many times -- or were able to just ignore Gene's wishes for various reasons.

Okay. I'll just forget all the commanders I know of from my 21 years in the USAF/USAFR -- I retired when GWB was president -- that got fired from their commands but not discharged and simply take your word for it.
