Here's an example of a military man losing his job for giving testimony under subpoena as well as his twin brother for um, reasons.
It happened in the previous administration also, and many before that.I'd like to think that even the somewhat tarnished Starfleet of the "picard" show is at least marginally better than the bottomless well of amorality that is our current administration.
You really think they’re thinking that much into it?![]()
Looking for that screencap now...No, Picards was glowing when Rios was calling in. I thought it was a random spotlight, but the friggin combadge was GLOWING! Don't got a screenshot of it but someone else will.
We don’t have access as the general public to their full activity list. They could have been in the process of trying to damage the administration as it has been reported that IT is going through every thing they have done since the President was acquitted. It's a perfect example, since the officer in question lost his job but has not been kicked out of the Army.
Raffi losing her job and separating from Starfleet are two separate things. The former definitely happened, but we don't know whether she quit or was involuntarily discharged.
Does that mean he should have run?Looking for that screencap now...

Not really wanting to get into the weeds of real life politics here. Just pointing out the analogy. We don’t have access as the general public to their full activity list. They could have been in the process of trying to damage the administration as it has been reported that IT is going through every thing they have done since the President was acquitted.
especially as the rest of the world has't got a say with this particular 'monster of the week'Not really wanting to get into the weeds of real life politics here. Just pointing out the analogy.
I've always felt Gene's "no conflict" rule was taken too the extreme and misunderstood by the writing staff. Gene knew conflict drove stories.
@Mark 2000 explains it better in this article: http://trekcomic.com/2018/11/01/the-myth-of-the-no-conflict-rule/
It happened in the previous administration also, and many before that.
-- or were able to just ignore Gene's wishes for various reasons.
Following a stroke at a family reunion in Tallahassee, Florida, in September 1989,[168] Roddenberry's health declined further, ultimately requiring him to use a wheelchair.[133] His right arm was paralyzed after another stroke in early October 1991, causing him ongoing pain as the muscles began to atrophy. It also caused problems with the sight in his right eye and he found communicating in full sentences difficult.[169] At 2:00 pm, on October 24, he attended an appointment with his doctor, Dr. Ronald Rich.[170] He arrived in the building with his staff, and began to travel up to the ninth floor in the elevator. As they reached the fifth floor, he began struggling for breath, and was wheeled into the doctor's office, where he was reclined and a nurse administered oxygen. Barrett was sent for. Upon her arrival, she held Roddenberry while encouraging him to breathe. He had a cardiopulmonary arrest, and he died in the doctor's office shortly afterwards.[171] Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was attempted with no effect, and paramedics arrived to take him across the road to the Santa Monica Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.[172]
sorry, did you even get what that post was about?Sorry, but I'm gonna take the word over the writers who were actually there, dealing with Gene and his notes over some random blogger. A cursory look at that article reveals some seriously frivolous examples the author is blowing up to be far more significant than they were.
How about checking out these interview --
http://blog.trekcore.com/2013/05/exclusive-ron-moore-ira-steven-behr-interview-part-ii/
Where Ira Behr and Ronald Moore cite Gene's complains about "family" and "captain's holiday", specifically about how Gene hated "Family" in large part due to the fact that he thought "brothers wouldn't argue" in the future or how Ira Behr's original pitch for "Captain's Holiday" was Picard seeing a holodeck version of him in the future living a boring life, but Gene insisted "Picard would never, ever worry about growing old."
Yes, Gene's restrictions were very, very real and the actual writers were hamstrung many times -- or were able to just ignore Gene's wishes for various reasons.
Sorry, but your blogger's article is nonsense and he doesn't know what he's talking about.
sorry, did you even get what that post was about?
Ah! So Microsoft still exists in the 23rd century then...Its not a bug. Its a feature.
got a link for that? - i kinda don't believe thatMilitary officers serve at the pleasure of the president and they can be dismissed for any or no reason.
Political dismissals have happened in every administration, period
