Star Trek passings

Harris Yulin, who played Marritza on DS9 's Duet

Oh no, not Mr Peasley! :wah:
Or Aamin Marritza or whatever!
:weep:

One of my favorite actors. He was brilliant in all his roles.

I most remember him as Mr Peasley in the Western series "The Macahans" and as Aamin Marritza in the DS9 episode "Duet".

I remember him most as Deek Peasley, a villain in the Western series The Macahans (or How The West Was Won, not to be confused with the movie with the same name).

In that series, Mr Peasly was a villain, so slimy, cunning and offensive that he was almost funny!

Clifton Jones has died. R.I.P.

Rest in Peace.

RIP, he was also on Space 1999.

I remember him from his guest appearance on Buffy the Vampire Slayer as the head of the Watcher Council confronting Giles and Buffy.
That was a very memorable episode and he was great in it, as always. Also, Buffy's speech to the Watcher's Council (and the throwing of the sword) was excellent.

I was surprised to discover he also did voicework for WATERSHIP DOWN.

(Only last week we lost another original ''1999'' cast member.......Prentis Hancock. His Paul Morrow was second-in-command, but like Tony in year two, he never achieved opening credit-billing.)

RIP. That episode wasn't an ordinary episode. It was a stage play, and it was the first time DS9 showed what kind of show it truly wanted to be.
I agree.

That was the first DS9 episode I thought was outstanding.

I mean, I had watched all season 1 episodes up to that and thought that the series was OK but then I watched this episodfe and it was so incredible good.

Unfortunately, due to bad policy from the TV station I had back then which dumped DS9 after one season, it took years until I could watch the whole series from start to finish. Then I realized that Duet had been the beginning of something, a glimpse of what DS9 would become.

Since Harris Yulin was a favorite of mine since I firts saw him as Mr Peasley in a Western series. I was so impressed by his acting in Duet that I actually called myself "Aamin Marritza" on some Trek forum before becoming "Lynx".

Just rewatched the original episode-"Breakaway"-on YouTube. After half a century it still holds up fairly well. Of course, like TOS, much of the cast is gone now.

One surviving cast member, Nick Tate, appeared on TNG and DS9.

Yeah, but why hold that against him?;)
He's also narrated a trailer or two. If memory serves, one of them was JURASSIC PARK
.

Two actors from Star Trek have passed. Clay Hodges passed this January, age of 83. He played an Acamerian bodyguard in ST:TNG's episode 'The Vengeance Factor'.
Secondly, Clifton Jones has passed, age of 87. He played the helmsman aboard the Klingon ship 'Bortas' in ST:TNG's episode 'Redemption'.
