Star Trek passings

What pic? Memory Alpha has pictures of every actor from every episode of TOS. They include pictures of actors and background extras who had no lines. They have a dozen pictures of extras from that episode -- Hill people, villagers and Enterprise crew. None of them look anything like Walter Burke. Aside from the fact that he was a well known character actor -- why would they hire him for a non speaking background extra? His asking price (admittedly a pittance by today's salaries) would have been several times a background extras pay.
Let's see the pic, I'd love the idea of that classic actor who appeared on Twilight Zone and Outer Limits completing the trifecta by having appeared on TOS.
Where's the picture?

I'm willing to admit that the source I found online may be wrong but now I've found two sources. The pic on both sites is of Mr. Burke at an age of late 60's. Memory Alpha has no pic of him, no mention of him, nor does ImdB mention him in Trek. To be honest, Memory Alpha does NOT contain decent pics of every actor. Many background actor pics are so blurry, you can't make out anything other than it is human and male/female.

Followup: I kept searching and the two sources I had found must have been copying one another and they both used an AI search engine to provide the information. This information about Mr. Burke was then further discredited after I made multiple searches and the AI search engine found Mr. Burke in 'another' TOS episode. That's not only not credible but nigh impossible. AI may have some attributes but as a search engine or even an AI creator of art - it is crap. I have now reported to Google that their AI search engine is defective.

My reply to the above is long, so open it up to read fully.

Listen, I don't need much excuse to pop in an episode of TOS. I put in A P L W and there is no chance he is in the episode. All the scenes in sickbay have the main actors in them with nobody in the background whatsoever. No one. That leaves the transporter room scene when they beam wounded Spock aboard. In that scene 2 younger extras who have zero lines wheel in the gurney. Neither of those guys are Walter Burke. They would never hire an established character actor to push in a gurney and say nothing. Also the main thing about Burke was his super distinctive voice. You wouldn't hire him to not say lines. Like hiring Bart (Guardian of Forever) LaRue to walk down a corridor -- no way

Grant, please see my earlier long reply

AI...just like the M5 computer -- not reliable. Too bad. Burke is another 60s era actor I would have loved to see in TOS. Zone has about 70 actors that appeared in TOS and Limits about 50 -- but there were tons more I would have loved to have seen. But there were only so many parts in TOS that warranted those top notch character actors.

I didn't start tracking trek actors till maybe 10 years ago and I didn't know about a lot of the sites to find these obits or names. I relied solely on Memory Alpha in those days but over the years, I found that the site will continue to insert obits for actors that died in years past when their agent or family finally decided to release notice. I still go into Memory Alpha and search by year to look for new names that may have been inserted recently. I had also been using ImdB to search actors, usually every two years but lately once a year but it's a long and arduous process and I do it when I have time and am bored. I would also just do a Google search by typing the actor name along with 'star trek' attached but NOW that I know Google is using a faulty AI algorithm to find information that may be incorrect is going to really get my goat. When I do get Google results, I always check them all. With Mr. Burke, I got three results back saying he was in Star Trek, two of which were detailed about his 'role' in the episode. I couldn't recall his face in any episode so I checked ImdB and there was nothing nor in Memory Alpha, so I searched again using Google and got the same two results. What was I to believe? After your responses, I searched seven more times and in the last search, Google came back with Mr. Burke in a second TOS episode. I rolled my eyes. In hindsight, I had forgotten my own advice I've given to dozens of other people about Google searches - No two searches will return the same results. So, search, check, confirm, and search again. Don't get old and senile.

You've located dozens of actors and extras that I never knew about. Once in a while a mix up is bound to happen! Don't quit. I still want to know what became of Cindy Lou!
