Solid 8 rating, due to guessing correctly what has to happen, based on a previous episode (Mariner resigning from Starfleet, thanks to a misunderstanding from her mother).

Highlights:
  • The return of the Breen, as well as a callback from a previous TNG episode!
  • Interesting how the Onarans were able to deal with their addiction, by essentially trading one for a healthier one.
  • I don't think that the Brekkians were "wiped out", but still, that was harsh.
  • The introduction to a new class of ship. Does this spell the end for the California class?
  • Captain Freeman REALLY needs to relax. For someone who likes being the captain of the USS Cerritos, she sure tries too hard to gain recognition for her position.
Other than that, I liked this episode, though I can't help but wonder if LDs will become more "serious" as time goes on. Call it a feeling. Until next time...

Weird how that new starship just showed up at the right time. It was out of nowhere and just didn’t make sense. Why did the admiral send it?

What on Earth was she doing with those pies? She was getting filling everywhere
Usually in a pie eating contest you eat the pie without hands. You just shove your face into it and eat it. It’s pretty messy.

I have a feeling that Starfleet Intelligence knew the Breen were active in the Delos system. If they were there, and if they did attack a lesser Federation starship, then Starfleet brass would have a chance to test their new toy. It didn't hurt to have a reporter on site recording the events.

I can see the Texas-class ships leading to the automated ships which protected, then attacked, Mars several years later. The attack on Mars probably ended the service life of both classes.

It's like Mariner is a over grown little girl.

How do you get that much pie jam/filling to be dripping all over the carpet from the Turbo Lift to the bunk beds?

Is she seriously 5 y/o and just diving into the pies with her bare hand?

We finally saw the Vulcan ensign in the background shots =D.

Is it me, or did the California class torpedo launchers seem kinda "Meek" when it fired it's torpedo spread?

Like seriously, I've seen baseballs thrown faster than the speeds that the torpedoes were flying at.

Given how slow they were traveling, no wonder why they were so easily shot down.

Seriously, was the California-class or USS Cerritos the only ship in the fleet that didn't get the counter measures developed against the Breen Energy dampening weapons?

Every other StarFleet ship, by the end of the Dominion war had the counter measure installed.

Was USS Cerritos given sub-par counter measures or crappy torpedoes?

The Texas-class seemed to have Torpedoes that traveled significantly faster out of the Torpedo launcher.

I think you're right, though I think it was more of a setup than you suggest. If Starfleet knew the Breen were there, then they would know that they would attack. The whole thing seems like a plan to discredit and get rid of the California-class and create good publicity for the Texas-class drone ships. I have to wonder just how much of a "Good friend" Admiral Buenamigo is. I wouldn't be surprised if he's really a Section 31 agent.

That was the archaeologist we saw in a previous ep when Mariner and Boimler had to man the starfleet recruitment booth. She was in the adjacent booth and was taunting Mariner to quit Starfleet and come with her.
OK, thank you. She looked familiar but I couldn't figure out where I'd seen her before.

I enjoyed it. I’m hoping for a revisit to the Malcorian system.

One would imagine. Unfortunately, we know the Prime Directive would likely disallow interfering with Brekka's fate or the Breen's actions against them.

The Prime Directive only prevents interference in Pre-Warp civilizations and internal conflict. You can interfere in invasions, albeit, the Federation would probably want to know before you involve themselves in a war.

Edit:

I actually have been wondering for almost 30 years what was going to happen to the Drug Dealer and Drug Addict planets. I even wrote a thread about on it Star Trek BBS. Now I want them to visit euthanasia planet where Lxanana's boyfriend was the only man who could save them from their sun exploding. "Man, I bet you wish you hadn't killed all the elderly!"

OK, this episode feels like LDS is going in a whole new direction.
More toward its Dramatic aspects rather than its Comedic ones.
I'm not sure if I am happy with that, but I gave it a 9 just because it was well done.

I liked the fact that the show has been so irreverent.
Not looking forward to it becoming a more main stream Trek show.

I thought those drones in PIC evolved from the Mars Defense Perimeter drones from BoBW.

I would be happy with that, as I feel the show’s humor is mostly forced, or at best that it goes overboard with the ‘memberberries.
