Good thing the Vulcans got their hands on super-regenerative shield technology first. That's a real game changer in galactic warfare and would lead to a nigh-unstoppable enemy until a countermeasure is developed or other major cultures figure out how its done (in their defense, it seems to be a "program" that is easily implemented).

This weirdly reminds me of my headcanon that all Federation members maintain at least a small-sized starfleet of their own for their home defense as well as own explorations independent of Starfleet. Earth and humanity were the only races that went "all in" on Starfleet because they didn't have their own tradition of space service prior to First Contact.

That was why Starfleet was so humanocentric and Earth so important to it.

Everyone else was more of the mind its Interpol -- useful but not really their main deal.

It'll be worth it, though. I love Mariner. I love Vulcans. So of course, I'd love someone who acted like the Vulcan version of Mariner.

He totally can be right about Vulcans generally being arrogant jerks and still be racist about them in lots of ways (overstating how arrogant and jerky they are, attributing arrogance and jerkiness to non arrogant jerks like T'Pol, fetishizing T'Pol because she's a hot Vulcan, having racist beliefs about them beyond their arrogant jerkiness that aren't true, etc. etc.)

I think canonically Vulcans and Spock are related like Klingons and Worf.

Spock is sort of a paragon of what they're supposed to be but not representative of the average Vulcan who are generally decent people but also kind of snobs and less logical than they claim.

I was kind of surprised they actually have their own separate fleet. I thought maybe there were Vulcan-only Starfleet ships, but not actual Vulcan ships. Is this a much smaller fleet? If not, where were they in the Dominion War battles? They're clearly quite formidable.

One of the early episodes of DS9 'Vortex' features a vulcan science ship called the T'vran that was exploring the Gamma quadrant. Odo contacts the ship and later rendezvous with it so they can take Odo's new alien friend and his daughter to start a new life on Vulcan. Only the vessels interior is shown and it is clearly of Vulcan design and not Starfleet

Cerritos is a tough little ship. She stood up pretty well to a supped up pakled ship and a klingon bird of prey.

They didn't make her look all "Sovereign-y" after the last battle with the Pakleds, but maybe they upgraded her weapons?
